It is VERY rare to get a guy that tall (taller than 6'1") that can change direction quickly and has the hips for CB. CB's have to have the best change of direction skills and speedquickness out of anybody, as the WR knows where he is going, the DB does not and has to react accordingly.
You are right about Bama. Coach Saban has a "template" for each position, meaning an ideal height/weight/body type and with few exceptions he does not deviate from it, no matter how talented a kid is. He will miss on a few, but percentages say that he will hit more than miss.

Look at the video featuring a Texas A&M receiver recruit vs. an LSU DB recruit. I'm worried this will happen in goal line situations. I need some reassurance.
White shut down RSJ and every other receiver all week in the Army practices and game, I think he'll be just fine.

Holmes: 6'2
Mills: 6'0
Collins: 6'2
Thomas: 6'0
Raymond: 6'1
Robinson: 6'2
Also Ed Paris is 6'2
I think we will be fine with corner height.

Tyran mathieu went to the alabama football camp, so Saban had an up-close & personal look at Tyran and didn't offer. He exploited the height difference in the national championship game.
Mathieu was horrible, he would've never seen the field at Bama.

Ok, you're REALLY a special kind of dumb. RSJ is 6-5 230lbs. He'd do the same thing to a 6'-6'2 DB.

OP, YOU ARE STUPID FOR EVEN CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT A GREAT POSITION GROUP AT LSU COULD EVER HAVE A WEAKNESS.
I think this is a completely reasonable question in all seriousness though. The game is changing in the NFL. Pete Carroll is starting to use bigger DBs to combat the bigger WR in the NFL and it is definitely paying off for him. Bigger corners are becoming a trend, and as with most things in football it will slowly start to trickle down into the college game. LSU has had some great DBs in the last few years and majority have been either tall or had a ridiculous wing span. The ones that didn't were incredible athletes that could make up for their lack of size. I think LSU will be okay because I do think they are trying to recruit big corners. And when the guys they recruit don't have size, it is because they have great coverage skills like TreDavious White.

I think the commentator said he (RSJ) finally won one. Do you have the rest of the video with White making all of the plays?

Saban also went right at Mathieu in the NC game. Worked pretty well with taller WRs/TEs.
Im sure LSU would prefer taller guys, but there arent a ton of tall guys that can play CB. The athleticism is still #1 priority.

That 60 yards he gave up was the reason we lost that game.

Did i say that? They did convert some key 3rd downs early in the game.

Literally had NOTHING to do with the outcome of that game.

Off the top of my head Kareem Jackson at 5'10" is the only DB Saban has recruited under 5'11". Will Lowery at 5'9" saw a lot of action as a nickel safety under Saban but he was a walk on.

Wow, you guys are still touchy about this game. All i said was Saban went right at Mathieu with taller recievers and it worked. There's no denying that. Sheesh.

All CBs can be exploited with good ball placement. LSU exploited Alabama's CBs in last years game.
Tre'davious White is an elite CB prospect and the reason Alabama didn't recruit him hard has nothing to do with his height. He was 100% LSU from very early on.
And Mathieu was a complete game changer, and any team and coach in the country would have wanted him after what he did his freshman year.
It's not like LSU only takes small corners, when the talent in there as is the case with Mathieu or White you can overlook an inch or 2.

If you listen to that tape closely, you hear the commentators say "he finally won one". That's because white was shutting down RSJ and every other wr he faced that week.
