There Might Be Soup

I was looking for something good to make (like Beef Rendang), but decided I need to use up some stuff I have instead of shopping for more ingredients.
It's gonna be soup, but I can't tell you what kind, yet. I have some tasso and cabbage that need to be used, as well as some veggies in the freezer and various bits of this and that.
First off, would the F&DB use this?
I'm thawing it out and if it smells good, it's going in.
Other possible ingredients:
I'm going to the store for some onions and peppers, but other than that, I'm trying to use only ingredients I have. One of those bags has some boneless, skinless chicken tenders. I hardly cook with those anymore (something I always had on hand for my son), but those might get chopped to go in.
Herbes de Provence, a couple of bay leaves, maybe some rosemary.
To be continued...

Turkey stock tasted good. It's in.
Popped a blood vessel in my hand when I was smashing garlic. Ouchie.

Soup is always better when you start with a homemade stock. I also like seeing what I can whip up with only what I have on hand. It's a great way to find new dishes. Good luck and post the results!

Your thread is making me start to think chilled soups for summer.

Heck, I might try soup tomorrow for the new baby. She won't eat grits, milk, baby rice cereal, gourmet pureed food.
The only thing she ate today was Gerber's baby food ...it's a little jar. She ate turkey and gravy and chicken and gravy. But I've run out of it since this was a sample test.
Can't get any more till tomorrow.

I don't know how to do that. Lucy has been sending pics to her friends via cell phone. But she doesn't know how to send a pic on the internet.

The Baby looks very much like a cutie, Zach!
Added some butter peas to the soup an hour or so ago. I've never eaten butter peas in my life! But they were in the freezer. The soup does not look pretty yet:
I also added chicken a little while ago. No pic of that.

It looks bland in terms of ingredients. Do you have any other veggies in your cupboard that can be added for color variation to the eye?

word has it that you make Tom Kha Gai....care to share your recipe?

Yep, eye appeal is sucking. I added some grated carrots. The taste is good, but I also have some baby summer squash that a friend gave me from her garden and I think I'm going to add that. I also have some leftover grilled veggies, but I don't know about adding a grilled flavor.
Neauxla, I do make Tom Kha Gai. Can't say I always use the same recipe, but I will look for one that I've used recently.

The good things about the soup:
1. Tastes good.
2. Low carb.
3. Contains home made stock (as well as from carton).
4. Every ingredient came from pantry or fridge/freezer. (Found a lone onion in the pantry, so I didn't need to go to store after all.)
Bad things about the soup:
1. It ain't purty.
2. Pasta or rice or potatoes would add good taste as well as body to the soup.
3. The turkey stock is six years old.
4. It's almost summer. WTH am I doing making a big pot of soup?
