We suck. Lost to ole miss with our B team. We will be lucky to make it out of the regional

Anybody else think that our B team could make the SEC Tourny?
Posted on 5/18/13 at 4:09 pm to Choupique19
Yes. O/U on the seed is 8.

If they could avoid the cramps, yes.

Nah, they showed why today.
Had their chances in the 7-9th innings.

Byrd was fine. His first time doing this. can't be a homer. Pretty raw with all the superlatives he threw at Everybody. Clown he was working with didn't help at all.
Game ran really long which presents the problem of filling dead air.

quote:Nothing "homer" about observing that one team is pitching its ace and playing for its future while the other is basically scrimmaging with backups. There was nothing about today's game that suggested Ole Miss came in with a superior team or in any way outplayed LSU. They clearly won because winning was not a priority for us. The nonstop raving about how incedibly awesome their pergomance was and how impressive they were was not only unprofessional and annoying, it was plainly ill-informed.That's disappointing from someone I hope has more talent in his future career than he showed today. I guess he was overcompensating to make sure he didn't sound like a homer, but he missed tje mark pretty badly, imo.

You must not have played sports. If anything, LSU wanted to win more today than most games. The guys playing today were trying to prove something. Also, a pitcher never goes out to the mound thinking it's okay if I give up a few runs, because we don't gain anything by winning.
The coaches limited themselves by how they subbed guys in and out early in the game.

Back in Nola. That was a wild game. Long arse game. Glad I got a chance to see the senior send off. That will be the last Kevin Berry sighting ever. Damn near in tears during the Katz and Rhymes intros
Also, how many people asked for inning summaries?

Kevin fricking Berry.
It took all season but the Berry we all love finally showed up today.

quote:No, we clearly did not. We benched Katz and Rhymes after one at bat for a Senior Day ovation; Laird played one defensive inning; Bregman, Ibara, McMullen and Ross never set foot in the game; Stevenson and Moore were the only two starters who played more than one inning, and Moore is only starting because we were resting Jones who could have played if we needed him (according to Mainieri).
If anything, LSU wanted to win more today than most games
ETA: also, Mainieri apparently didn't even stick around for the end of the game. *NOT* a priority.
quote:Absolutely agree. The guys out on the field were busting their asses to win and nearly pulled it off against a top 20 team pitching their super-hot ace. But that does not mean at all that winning this game was a priority for LSU. If it had been, the guys I just mentioned would have been in the lineup.
The guys playing today were trying to prove something.
quote:Certainly not. Eades had a bad day, and they roughed him up a little and Paul was ready to pull him early anyway.
Also, a pitcher never goes out to the mound thinking it's okay if I give up a few runs, because we don't gain anything by winning.
quote:Do you think that was some sort of tactical error, like they didn't know exactly what they were doing and had specific reasons for doing it exactly the way they did? It was like an NFL team that has clinched homefield advantage through the playoffs resting their starters in Week 17 against a team fighting for a playoff spot.
The coaches limited themselves by how they subbed guys in and out early in the game
Everyone knew coming in that winning this game was way far down on the priority list for Mainieri, behind working out his backups, resting his starters, and trying out some pitching arms that don't usually get to see much SEC-caliber opposition. But our backups are pretty badass, and knocked the crap out of a great pitcher, and made a good game out of it anyway. Success all around, basically.

Astro, I wish I'd have kept count of the inning summary requests today.
Posted on 5/18/13 at 5:54 pm to AstroTiger
Hey, Astro, how about a full-game summary? Can ya whip that out?
Posted on 5/18/13 at 6:09 pm to liquid rabbit
that clusterfrick of a game would have been a mess with a summary.
