All you need is a pulse to catch fish/crabs in Grand Isle.
We are talking blue crabs? Right?
So, just popping cork with some shrimp and let 'er rip for trout? I am thinking a sinker will yield a bounty of hardheads.

I have caught many of fish along la 1 and behind Elmer's Island without a boat when the water was moving. Caught a limit of reds along the highway last summer on my way down to the island.

find rucker from LAS
catch fish
but seriously. anywhere there's a bridge or cut and moving water, should be able to catch fish. especially specks early morning/late afternoon

I don't understand the Rucker rig. To me, it seems like there is too much leader line, but who am I to question because he can flat out catch.

I'm planning on heading down tomorrow night and want to fish the lights somehwere and somewhere and in the morning Got any recommendations? I'm not too familiar with GI.

I kayak fish the first concrete bridge between Fourchon and GI quite often. There's always people fishing there. The second bridge more of a winter spot for me since I can get to the snake pit faster. If there's good flow through one of the bridges, try topwater early and then live bait.
That or wade fish at Elmers. Heard they've been doing well

bayboat > kayak > wade fishing
but regardless, you can catch lots of fish wade fishing. the parallel rocks off the beach of GI are breakwaters, and you can catch all around them however you fish. You can also catch off the beach with no breakwaters and off the beach at Elmers and Fourchon. A net and stringer are very helpful.

no, long heavy duty stringer with brass point and crabtrab float. First 18" may be dipped too.

Blue Crab/Rock Crab
Live shrimp if your not on a dock in the middle of the night or in a boat.
I would have two popping corks one with live and the other with artificial. One line on the bottom with live.

uhhh, where is he going to hold these 3 rods, along with assorted paraphernalia(net/stringer/live bait/dead bait/lures) while standing waist deep in the surf?

Wading belt from academy will do the trick.

I used to have one of these. Could hold fish, a little bit of tackle and two rods. Wasn't perfect but did the job.
