The Vikings unveiled the design for their new $975 million dollar stadium today. What do you think? Some of the highlights:
The features include what the team said is the largest transparent roof in the world via the first clear ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) usage in a U.S. stadium. It will also have the "largest glass pivoting doors in the world," the team said. The doors will open to the west plaza and, presumably, the Minneapolis skyline. Skyways will connect the stadium to downtown parking and other buildings. ESPN

Snow load x (flattish roof + glass) = FAIL
20 years from now that thing will be uglier than light-colored brick and orange carpet are today.

Actually, I listed to the presentation by the architect. The stadium is designed with a roof that is angled enough to prevent a collection of snow and a roof fail like the Metrodome.

Outside looks gross...like a weird hideous alien spacecraft.
Inside looks fantastic.

There were a lot of cheers when it was announced that there would be ample rest rooms in the new stadium. The Metrodome is awful. There will be two HD scoreboards 50' X120' and a ribbon of HD panels between the first and second levels.

We really need a Camden Yards-type in the NFL

It's widely said that we have the best fans in the NFL. We sell out year after year even if we're losing unlike Saints fans.
Wasn't it back in the 70's that they were the Aints and fans were wearing bags on their heads?
