Saban seems much more aggressive at recruiting the nations top rated recruits. I wonder why?
Posted on 5/7/13 at 9:44 pm to WylieTiger
Because Saban gets who Saban wants?

Saban takes shotgun approach and hopes to find enough that buy his snake oil or are "willing to make a deal with the devil to get to the league".
Miles and his staff try to develop genuine relationships with the recruits.

I can agree with you there, but I had to stop reading the B.S. that followed.

Just like Saban and his staff does, I presume, but Saban's staff goes after more of the nations elite recruits than Miles does.
Just an observation I made.

It's just 2 different approaches and philosophies on offers. Doesn't mean one is more aggressive than the other in recruiting.

This is exactly what happened with Clifton Garrett. He visited Bama and LSU on the same weekend. It seemed like he hardly even had a connection with the Bama staff, while Les Miles and John Chavis were already close to him when he made the visit. He's pretty much a silent commit at this point because of it.

And Alabama has a much higher bankroll to work with. Thus, they can actually visit all these kids.

We've already seen Bama's approach through Cameron Robinson's Twitter convo with Cristobal. They build up Saban to these kids, telling them " Coach is anxious to talk to you," " I'm pretty sure Coach is gonna call you tomorrow," " Coach is not only the best Coach in the country, he's the greatest person in the country."
Weak minded, star gazing kids buy this shite and have no idea that Saban only talks to a handful of players on the team. He is not interested in creating a family atmosphere, he wants results or you're shite to him.

Ill also throw out that being the only school in the state, LSU can focus on keeping instate talent and the fortifying it with selected out of state targets.
The state of Alabama's talent is divided between two schools, so Alabama has to focus more on OOS recruits...who are less likely than an instate recruit....so they have to offer more?
And for what it's worth, i do stand by my comments re the Saban vs Miles approaches. Maybe you call saban's more "business" oriented, but he sells something different than Miles

Saban has a recruiting title to win.

Fwiw, out of the top 25, Ole Myth has or will offer 47. I know, it doesn't add up, but neither does them getting some last season.

What this turd eater blabbering about ....

I thought it might be due to Bama winning the last two crystal trophies and expecting greater interest on a national level.
I find it hard to believe it has to do concerns with the added expense.

it is a shotgun approach, but he has been able to get the top OLB or ILB 4 out of the past 5 years and 1 of the top 5 Rbs of the past 4 years. The winning championships and facilties are a great draw but these guys have constantly had 3-4 players go in the first round the past 3 years. They also have Auburn in their state who is no pushover in recruiting.
Of couse they load up the shottie! They've built such a reputation and get so many talented players that a lot of em get "processed".
With us(LSU) we don't have to do that. We already have a more talent rich state than they do, plus we don't have to split recruits with other schools. To put it easy, Bama has to offer all these kids and we don't.

Beat me to it.
Plus, our staff finds the players they want, not who the experts declare as top-25. The recruiting services are usually late to the party when it comes to knowing the deep talent in our state.

I disagree. not questioning the LSU strategy or anything but to say we don't have to offer the top 25 players in nation because of a talent rich state is crazy. we don't normally have top 25 talent in state. not saying the recruiting services top 25 are really the top 25 but any school in country would take top 25 players.
