RUMOR THREAD ALERT: "720 always online" rumor possibly debunked

IGN
An email reportedly sent to Microsoft employees seems to debunk rumors that the next Xbox will require a constant internet connection.
The alleged email, obtained by Ars Technica, is said to have been sent to “all full-time employees working on the next Xbox” and contains the following text:
“Durango is designed to deliver the future of entertainment while engineered to be tolerant of today's Internet. There are a number of scenarios that our users expect to work without an Internet connection, and those should 'just work' regardless of their current connection status. Those include, but are not limited to: playing a Blu-ray disc, watching live TV, and yes playing a single player game.”
As Ars points out, in addition to debunking rumors of a constant internet connection, the email also seems to lend more evidence to rumors that the next Xbox will function as a cable box and allow playback of live TV. The email also seems to confirm that Microsoft’s new console will include a Blu-Ray drive.

UltimateHog has a cousin who works at Microsoft and said that is in fact 100% FALSE.

I'm going to replace "Rumor Threads" with "Arky Posters" eventually.

brah, don't be hating on my HD DVD collection. my extensive HD DVD collection usually closes the deal for me when i have lady friends over.

The external HD-DVD drive sold separately from the system really helped the popularity of the medium.
feel sorry for the poor bastards who went all in on that one.

If it is viral marketing then it's smart of them. They needed to slow the always online freight train down from all of the UltimateHogs of the world spreading it yet want to wait until the offical reveal in a few weeks to show their presentation. The best way to do that without messing up your reveal is with a "leak".
