Per NFL Network. Product of a horrible front seven or does Roman deserve some credit?

Yes, he's terrible in coverage but he can still occassionally create havoc in run support. Atlanta game from 2011 always comes to mind.

Safeties having a lot of tackles isn't exactly a great thing. Receivers get tackled a lot by safeties after making catches.

It's not a good thing for the team but at least we know he is doing part of his job, unlike most of the defense last year.

When a player in the backfield has that many tackles in that span, you know the pass rush is doing a shitty job.

Want to know what's crazy? Harper has been #1 or #2 in total tackles every season since 2007.

I feel like he's been used near the LOS more then most safeties, but yeah it's generally not a stat that's too great for safeties to have.

I've said this on numerous occasions. It's the only faux-argument that the Harper apologists have outside of his sack numbers which could probably be achieved by most safeties if given the same number of opportunities.

Creating havoc in run support is a product of your defensive playcalling

I prefer my teams safeties to be able to play safety and actually stay in the same zip code as the receiver.

If they had a stat for giving up big plays I'm sure he'd be the runaway leader as well
