You're right.
Why should us dumbass locals give a shite about top OOC games being played elsewhere? We've got Furman!

im excited we get a game in houston! YES!!!
Posted on 5/6/13 at 2:38 pm to udtiger
No, what makes you a dumbass is that you think you are entitled to 8 home games a season. Bama plays 7 home games this season with a neutral site game to open the season. Florida plays 6 games at Ben Hill Griffin this season and Georgia plays 6 home games in Athens this year. The fact that you think LSU owes it to you to play 8 home games a year and when they play 7 a year you bitch and moan is what makes you a whiny count.

I wish we'd play a home/home.

You too poor to afford tickets ?
I have student tickets, stadium club tickets in my name, and saints season tickets.
I take a loss on Saints season tickets so that I can bring friends to the game, but then again I view LSU and Saints football as a entertainment and not something to profit off of
Would I prefer a home/home? I'm not sure. If you are LSU or Wisconsin, why would you agree to that?
The SEC is going to expand the schedule to 9 games, and we are to do this every year. More quality opponents, the better. I could care less where the game is played, I'll still go

There's a whiny count in this thread, but it sure isn't me.

sure seems like you. Most LSU fans seem excited about this game, yet you are bitching about getting a top OOC game in a recruiting rich area.
This is the way college football is going. Teams aren't going to do home and aways when they can get an all expenses payed, 1 year commitment for more money

Bingo. This is why there is constantly top 10 matchups every year being played at neutral sites. You don't see these games being played week 1 at a home site very often.

Thus, it would seem that YOUR crying is not justified.
My crying? I make that drive with an enormous smile on my face 6-8 times a year. Because I consider the opportunity to watch LSU football well worth the drive and my time. Albeit against Florida or Tulane. In TS, Jerryworld, Reliant, or the Superdome. Doesn't matter. I love it either way.
You, obviously, feel differently.

Its not so much the loss of one home game that bothers the "whiny counts" like me, its the quality of the games we are stuck with for the home schedule. There is absolutely no reason to even buy tickets in advance to half our home games, people cannot give them away. If wanting to play big games in Tiger Stadium makes us whiny counts then I am proud to admit I am a whiny count.
And LSU does owe it to the season ticket holders who shell out thousands of dollars for HOME game season tickets. If Houston LSU fans want to see LSU play, then don't live in Houston!

Agreed. The next best thing is neutral/neutral for me. I hope Lambeau is still in the works.

Why would a top name team come to Tiger Stadium when they can play in one of these bowl games?
The SEC is going to expand to 9 games, maybe that will fill it

Arizona State, Oklahoma, West Virginia and NC State could probably answer this question for you.

Check out the rest of the SEC schedules and look at the true home games and tell me about all the powerhouse matchups you see for home games for other teams.
Purchasing tickets is your decision and your decision alone. You can look at the schedule and make an educated decision as to whether or not you want to purchase your season tickets. Don't buy them if you don't like the schedule. Someone in the 5-10 year waiting list will be glad to take them off of you hands. LSU doesn't owe you jackshit when setting up a schedule.
What a fricking moron. I live in Houston and buy tickets for higher than face value from someone who buys them from LSU. I load up the car every single weekend and happily drive in from Houston whether we are playing Furman or Alabama. I am smart enough to realize that we aren't going to play a top 25 opponent every single week. I wouldn't even want to be doing that. I also drive in for multiple baseball series every year. So, you can pretty much eat my arse on this one.

Because I don't have season tickets in my own name yet and I still make the effort to buy tickets and make it to every home game? You are an incredibly stupid piece of shite.

Who is willing to come play us in TS? And do you know if our admin is willing to return the favor? Many of you act like we can just invite these big schools and they will come running. No big name school WANTS to come play in TS. There is no benefit for them. Who have we convinced to come play us in the past decade? Washington, Arizona State (hurricane cancelled), Arizona, Virginia Tech. Any Big Ten teams? Big 12? You think VA Tech or their ACC brethren want to come back after the skull fricking they received on their last visit?
If neutral site games are the only way we can convince them to play us, then so be it. We'll kick their arse wherever they want to play. I can't believe some people would rather have an extra home game against a "nobody" than play someone meaningful and get a nice SOS boost from it.
It's not a choice between UW at Tiger Stadium and UW at Reliant. It's a choice between UW (or other) at Reliant VS Norfolk State at Tiger Stadium. Seems like it should be an easy decision.

First of all, I live in Houston...and I see all LSU home games just fine.
Second, you're not paying for tickets that aren't at home. If there are 6 home games, you pay for 6 home games. Same with 7. Same with 8. You get EXACTLY what you pay for.
ETA: Oklahoma and NC State? You're referring to games scheduled 5+ years in the future? You have no idea if those will even happen.

We have a lot of fans here that feel entitled and that LSU owes them. Just because your family has had season tickets since 1962 does not entitle you to jack. LSU is doing what is best for the program. If they feel playing a Neutral Site game is in their best interest then do it. Besides if we don't play this game we would more than likely play a team like South Alabama, or Western Kentucky at home and you'd still bitch that we play crappy non conference games.

Hey if you got the money to spend then more power to you. I'll enjoy picking up tickets for free for half the games this year.

I will assume that you replied to me by mistake given that I haven't complained one single time about our home schedule. I have pretty much been saying everything you just said.
