Wasn't there a rule that used to limit the number of players a team can take in a single year? I thought it was "5+3" or something like that. Or were those "rules" specific to the Dale Brown Effect?
I think the 1 and done rule got this thrown out.
UK has 8 signees and I think 5 returning scholarship players...
WCS
Wiltjer
Poythress
Hood
Polson
Polson I think was a former walk on who they would gladly take the scholarship away from to make room for Wiggins if something drastically changes soon there.

It changed not long after it was initially implemented.
The timing could not have been worse for us. That rule pretty much eliminated any shred of consistency we might have expected during the Brady tenure.

Wiggins isnt going there, but still, 5 of Top 10 is insane
From what I understand from reading about his recruitment, literally no one except the family has any idea what he is going to do. It is believed that Florida St. and Kentucky are his top choices, but recent comments about wanting to go to a school that has the best shot at winning a championship and ready him for the NBA have made some think UK leads. He also spoke glowingly when talking about how Cal told him UK would win by 30 with him and other teams wouldn't be able to double him because of all the talent. I personally want him to go to Kentucky because, as a college basketball fan, I think all that talent would be fun to watch .
But this is the strangest recruitment in sometime, literally no one has a clue what's going on inside the kid's head.

Holy shite JJ
This will be my first full time semester since the first time I was at LSU 5 years ago... 100% getting season tickets for both football and basketball.

IMO the Michigan Fab 5 should have been the "Fab 4". Jackson was ranked significantly lower than the rest of the recruits and barely played until his junior and senior seasons. While he certainly ended up being a good player, it took him a couple years of development where as the other 4 where good from day 1. He is also the only one not to make the NBA.
Assuming UK's really low recruit wasn't in their class, it would be like calling UK's class the Super seven or something (despite the 7th guy being much lower than the top 6).

When is the last time our basketball class has been ranked this high?

2003 for sure
Bass - 5 star (#11 in country)
Koundjia - 5 star (#22 in country)
Minor - 4 star (#38 in country)
Lazare - 3 star (#134 in country)
Nelter - 3 star (not ranked)
Those are rivals rankings. Scout and rivals didn't do team rankings that far back though...however, going by player rankings, that is a little bit better than this class.
Granted Koundjia and Minor didn't pan out whatsoever. That class would be on this class' level if not slightly higher on paper. I think we have the better coach this time around though to get the most from these incoming boys
It's tough to rank the aussie kid since he's international (the recruiting sites almost generally ignore international players), but he would probably be a 3-star. No one major site ranks JUCOs but Odo would be a Top 10 JUCO prospect for sure meaning he would be a 4-star.

In the team rankings, LSU has moved to #6,
I just checked–I think we're #5? You would know better than me, I follow infrequently, but they had us listed as top 5.
to JJ! Great class, very excited for LSU Basketball in the future. When's the last time we could say all three of the major sports were on such solid ground?

They actually moved us up again... I don't know what happened to make the 2nd move but we are now 5th!
