I don't blame him, fricking EJ Manuel went before him

EJ Manuel did literally everything right in the draft process.

He had question marks, so he worked to improve them. Went to the Senior Bowl, etc.

If anything, the draft process showed his character, work ethic and willingness to be coached up.

Geno's entire approach was, "I'm the best QB, if you don't believe it that's your problem." No Senior Bowl, didn't work to prove his question marks were correctable etc.

To me, his falling status at the draft is entirely his own fault.

his agents took him in knowing who he was (presumably if they arent retarded). the first question they probably asked him was where do you think you are gonna get drafted. they arent stupid. they knew what they were getting into and didnt deliver.

The best part is that now Geno Smith seems like an immature person who can't handle rejection/failure. It's his own fault for believing his own hype during the lying season.

yeah, mostly this

I had the impression that some teams were potentially interested in picking him earlier but decided there was no need to reach for him. I'm not a big fan of the pre-draft analysis that kinda read like "dumb black quarterback" but he really would have been better served to put out a better attitude to the public during this process.

We won't know the upshot of this for a while obviously. Aaron R seemed like a cocky bastard when he entered the draft and being humbled turned out to inspire his work ethic (half a decade later he's the best quarterback in the NFL)
