"Bar fights were a normal part of life. And if you ran off at the mouth , you had better be prepared for what was sure to come.

Where did all the men go?"

I largely will agree with these sentiments, but under the old etiquette (for lack of a better word), the offended party would challenge the mouthy party to "take it outside" and sometimes even offer a chance to take back the offensive words. At that point, the mouth at least had a chance to de-escalate (or even improve his behavior). I don't recall hitting someone from behind as being consistent with that ethos. That was considered a "punk move."

Anyway, I don't mean to be ripping on Hill - I don't know if he is really a bad apple or not - but the hitting the guy from behind part is troubling to me, especially when it is hard to imagine a guy like Hill having any trouble facing up to most anyone.

I have read so much hyperbole on this I have lost track of whether or not the "victim" is even pressing charges or if this is just a Politician's photo op. Anybody know if the victim pressed charges?

THANK YOU! Idiots on here with all the "thats how we did it in the day", "where are all the men", "happens every day in colleges everywhere".

Understood, we were all tough once and some of us squared off more than others...but we squared off!

In the toughest of circles of the "real men" you speak of, no matter what, the fight was done and the attacker was turned on when he was pussy enough to strike from behind! And THOSE instances are when cops stepped in and clicked the cuffs. Yes, back in the day it was different and less law involved, but you were looked down on as a pussy if you didn't square off with someone rather than sucker punch him from behind.

So enough with the geeks on here. All you badasses who really have had your share of fights, what did you think about someone acting tough by suckering someone while he wasn't defending himself?

I think it's pathetic and speaks of character of the person who does this....as ironic as it is to judge character of a fighter in a bar who is on probation and reduced charges for a sex crime.

BTW, on the legal front, a person close to me is a criminal defense attorney specializing in sex crimes. SHes had her share of clients who have gone back to see judges for additional charges....there is simply no telling what the judge will do, could be very minor in this situation or if something unknown to the Rant is presented, it could get ugly.

Guy could also go after the attackers civilly knowing J Hill will get paid one day.
