I really hope Mett steps up this year, but so far in spring training he looks like last year with over throwing the receiver like in the bama game. So far he hasn't lived up to the hype since he has been at LSU.
Theres so many things wrong with this statement

I love the fact CC let the QB's totally control the playcalling. Was a great idea to begin with and I had no idea he let them.
Only when QB's are given total confidence and involved in playcalling do they reach their peak.
Great move by CC and I want to look back and see how the QB's called the game, because it is very interesting. Article sums it up great.

Probably will not be that way when season starts but he said he wanted to see how these guys think. He may let this continue during the season as games progress and LSU plays from a lead in the score to let them to continue to develop. It may be part of his strategy to run a hurry up offense and befuddle opposing DC's because it would be hard to figure what play the OC would call vs what the QB would call.

although his numbers didn't really show it a lot of that was not on him. He threw away a lot of passes because nobody was open and although it looks bad on paper that is actually something a lot of QB's never seem to learn how to do.
This is one of the reasons I hate when people use completion percentage as a way to assess a QB's accuracy. Meanwhile QB's completion percentage is reduced by WR drops, WRs running the wrong route on a timing throw, and also WRs falling down if they slip in a break. On the flip side, they also get inflated by amazing catches by WRs. Instead of looking at stats, to judge a QB's accuracy you really have to know the play called and watch the film to see if the ball was placed where it was supposed to be/should have been. Also, you have to watch where the defenders are to know if the QB was trying to "throw the receiver open" instead of just throwing to a spot.
Bottom line, looking purely at a completion percentage stat line is a poor and lazy way to judge accuracy.

After watching the highlight vids of spring game, making a field goal does not seem automatic, as it has in past

Mett's been in our program two years and was starter for an entire year. He is what he is, and we're not going to see much improvement between now and next season. Yes, I know Cam can help a bit, but Mett is what he is - flashes of brilliance, strong arm but often inaccurate, no mobility, not much leadership.
If guys have "it", they tend to show it very quickly. Johnny Football is an extreme example, but the guy stepped up for a first year coach and his first year starting, and dominated. So the excuse that it "takes time" is usually just a lame excuse for guys we're disappointed in. If they're got it, they usually show it quickly.

Has anyone talked about Holmes? He played pretty well.

So you are saying that no good quarterback has improved in their second year starting?

It doesn't matter how good Jennings is Les will not play him because Mett is a senior.

Good, I don't want a true freshman playing QB at LSU.

Can't both of them play? We understand Mett is the experienced QB & will get a large majority of the snaps, but I would hope Jennings is prepared for the future, and would get the snaps so that he is ready if needed even in the 2013 season.

Video with 35 highlight clips: LINK. Handheld camcorder was shaky but adequate.
Pros
> Mettenberger threw well to different routes and a spectrum of receivers (WR, slot, RB, FB, and TE)
> Jennings showed a lot of versatility, including evading sacks, throwing the ball away SAFELY, and completing passes while under pass rush.
> Loston and K. Alexander demonstrated excellent speed and tackling. K.A. solidly tackled J. Hill for a loss.
> Nonetheless, Jeremy Hill is beast.
> Purple team defense dominated. Not too surprising that Purple team was shutout.
Cons
> FG and PAT kicking must improve.
> I counted at least 3 bad snaps, which must be eliminated.

Anybody know where I can find full stats from the spring game? Not just the stat leaders, but every players stats. TIA.

Of course Mett can improve, I'm just saying it will be marginal improvement and we're not suddenly going to see the guy become the superstar that many thought he was. My point is that Mett's been around quite a while and we've seen enough to know what we're getting. He may improve a bit, but we're not going to see him suddenly blossom into an elite QB.
