They amnesty him after this season. Another team is going to claim him for a reduced rate, even if its for only a partial season. Then he would be a free agent after that. So it is possible that Kobe could resign in 2014, but it would be after playing for another team.
I really hope he never plays for anyone else. frick he is a beast for hitting those free-throws. I can't blame anyone for using him too much the last few days since these were essentially win or go home type games.

If it is torn, wouldn't it be in their best interest to amnesty Kobe? They can still resign him after his amnesty contract runs out, but if he's gonna miss all of next season they can't commit all of that cap space to a guy who won't be playing.
It would definitely be in their best interest of he's out next year.
But Kobe won't miss all of next season. He'll probably be back in January/February. This if Kobe fricking Bryant, not Derrick Rose.

LA will have a ton of cap space. He could easily go back and sign for around $10m or so like KG/Duncan. Assuming it's not barred by the CBA, and I don't believe it is.
Kobe could resign in 2014, but it would be after playing for another team.

To lighten the mood (although its mocking someone he injured)

I'm assuming he meant the season, not his career.

I feel bad for Kobe. I hate the Lakers though.

And he got yet another BS foul called on that play. Barnes never touched him, he just fell on his own after his Achilles popped.
I'm pretty sure you'd fall if your Achilles popped too.

We are obviously not talking about the same thing or scenario
Kobe has one more year on his contract, (2013-2014)
In order to amnesty him and get the full benefit of it, the Lakers would have to amnesty him before next season, (2013-2014), so his entire $30+ million contract comes off the books. This is under the assumption that Kobe will miss significant playing time due to the injury
Once they cut those ties, any team under the salary cap conduct a silent bid for any amount up to the amount they are under the cap, with the highest bid getting him on their roster for the 2013-2014 season.
The earliest he could return to the Lakers would be for the 2014-2015 season, when he would be a free agent.
Does that make sense to anyone? Its kinda late and I could be rambling

Not questioning him falling. Just saying he always gets BS calls from the refs. And he whines like a little bitch when they don't call something in his favor.

Not a Kobe fan but this is really sad to hear

Not much love for him as a Timberwolves fan. Last year he injured Rubio and put him out for a year. This year with the Wolves down by three, Rubio took a last second shot. Kobe hacks him from behind and no foul. Replays confirmed he blasted Rubio on the arm. After the game, Kobe has the audacity to say it wasn't a foul.

Here is the pivotal clarification: Kobe’s torn Achilles’ tendon is expected to be a COMPLETE tear.
