Anyone that says dislike is a total douche

I had dinner last night with Skip and several others at L'auberge. He spent the better part of the evening talking about himself and LSU baseball but never mentioned the field being named after him.

"From Skip Bertman Field at Alex Box Stadium, welcome to Southeastern Conference baseball where tonight, the LSU Fighting Tigers take on…"
Awesome.

Love it when our real nickname is used.

Not a fan of it. What's next Saban field or Dale Brown court?
No. I don't know much about Daddy Brown's time with LSU basketball, but LSU will NEVER consider Saban Field at Tiger Stadium... the more likely would be McClendon FIeld or something like that. Saban doesn't have nearly the record or glowing accolades that could even compare on Pluto for football what Skip did for the baseball program. Nick reawakened a sleeping giant. Skip CREATED A LEGENDARY PROGRAM. Before him no one gave a rat's shite about LSU baseball seeing as we had no glory days before 1983... Saban came to LSU football after a dark period that followed decades of history, tradition, and greatness (of course I'm talking about WAY before the Curly Hallman and DiNardo days...
so no, Saban Field will exclusively NEVER. HAPPEN.

What about Les Miles grass at Charlie McClendon field at Tiger Stadium

Call me what you will but I don't like it. Just never a big fan of it. Seems very Miss State ish.

Like or dislike?
I like the gesture.
I dislike the timing without at least some clarification.
I wish someone would express some regret that we never named anything after Maravich until after he died, ditto for McClendon and Bernie Moore.
But, it is deserved and I applaud the change to making gestures when it can actually mean something to the person being honored, and not just that person's family and fans.

I can't believe they aren't putting a sponsor or donor name on that first.
Count me as disappointed it won't be something ridiculous like the "Exxon Mobil Skip Bertman Field at the Entergy Alec Box."
The Athletic Dept. is slipping.

Its not that I dont like the idea of Skip being honored. I think that's wonderful, and he's clearly very deserving of something like this. But I don't like the idea of the field and stadium having different names. Off the top of my head, i cant think of any similar situations in the MLB or college. Anybody know any?
