the inconsistency regarding the black substance leads to 20,000 questions, not plotholes as people claim. We should know what it is and what it does to understand exactly what kind of threat it poses to the earth. as far as all of the questions regarding what the engineers were doing on the planet, why they were going to destroy earth (seemingly) etc... i liked not having it spelled out for me.

IMO if the questions aren't even remotely answered in the film it's the same difference I.e. tomato tomato.
