Generally speaking, you rather move up or down in the draft?

Staying put not an option for this question. Moving up meaning the 8-12 range. Down meaning 20-27 range.

Move down. I'm tired of shipping away picks.

Well up would cost us picks,
Down would net us picks.
Definitely down. No one i see worth multiple picks up.

In this draft I rather move down since we are short on picks to begin with

I don't want to move down. I want a game changing defensive player. I think we can get one without moving up though.

Down. If we move down a few spots, get picks, I'd have no issue.

Aside from not having a lot of picks in this draft, I don't there is a big difference in talent from 1-15 where we are at. There isn't really that one player or top talent in this draft that everyone is drooling over. With the players coming in this year think it would be more beneficial to move down and acquire picks. This draft seems a stock pile players draft more than a get that one game changer type of draft.

agree but if one of the top three tackles aren't there (very likely) or one of the top four projected OLBs (not as likely) then I would be for a trade down happening. Maybe not if Star was there but there is no way he's getting past Carolina

Answer fit for political debate. Not really an answer, violates premise of the question, but people will like and agree with it.

with this draft, moving down is the best option. when the consensus seems to be that there are no true stars this year, I'd rather have multiple picks and increase our percentages of being successful with them.

Are you talking "generally" as a draft strategy or this year?
Because you are taking 1 of three draft options away.
This year for frisco is a great year to move up with almost too many pics in their hand.
This year is a good year for the Saints to trade down and gain much needed pics...except if a Star or jones falls then a no brainer to stay at 15.

This year. Let's say i had a crystal ball and i said the saints moved around with their 1st round pick. Without knowing anything further, would you hope it was a move down or a move up... this year speaking.

Gotcha.
Then down for sure.

I disagree. I think there are more "stars" this year. There isn't that one guy like a Clowney or Luck or Mario Williams/Reggie Bush, but the top half of the 1st round will be loaded.
Star, Jordan, Mingo, Floyd, Jones, Ashana, Werner, Joeckel and Fisher > the rest of the draft field.
I said it before and I'm sticking to it.

I'm not saying you can't get good players in the later part of the draft, but I'm talking about great players.
Here are the draft spots for the NFL defensive players of the year for the last five years.
JJ Watts (11), Terrell Suggs (10), Troy Polamalu (16), Charles Woodson (4), James Harrison (UFA).
They were all choosen in the top half of the draft besides Harrison who wasn't choosen at all.
Here are the draft spots for the defensive NFC Pro Bowlers last year.
DE: 27, 126, 15, 2
DT: 4, 224, 9
OLB: 11, 26, 68, 17
ILB: 11, 9, UFA
CB: 4, 9, 35, UFA
FS: 14, 126, 133
SS: 64
9 of 22 were in the top half of the draft. That's a percentage of some sort.
Here are the draft spots for the defensive AFC Pro Bowlers last year.
DE: 11, 7, 126, 134, 135
DT: 12, 21, 6, 120, 108
OLB: 10, 2, 20, UFA
ILB: 26, 15
CB: 14, 7, 24
FS: 24, 37, UFA
SS: 16, 65
10 of 24 were in the top half of the draft. Yet another percentage.
I'm just saying there are a few guys who become pro bowlers in the 50s and 60s. A few in the hundreds and even a few that are undrafted. But a majority are in the top fistfull of picks.
And the great longtime players you build your defense around like Champ Bailey, Charles Woodson, Bruce Smith, Demarcus Ware, Deion Sanders, Brian Urlacher, Julius Pepper and todays guys like JJ Watts, Aldon Smith/Justin Smith, Patrick Willis, JPP, Haloti Ngata, Derrick Johnson and Derrelle Revis were all picked at 16 or below.

I wouldn't mind trading down with Frisco as they have a lot of picks to spare and would probably giv eus some good deals.

If we were one player/position away from greatness, I wouldn't mind moving up for the right player. As we stand though, I would rather move down and get extra picks.

so they can add more eliteness and we add more mediocreness.
