I feel like the show has done a GREAT job of hiding everyone at Kings Landings true intentions. Cersie/Littlefinger/Tywin/Tyrion/Varys do we have any idea what they are really up to???

Meanwhile, Rob/Daenerys/Arya/Jon/etc are soooo easy to read it seems.

Maybe I am way off but that's the impression I've got.

I think Cersei is the most transparent of that group. Varys and Littlefinger are completely inscrutable -- that's why they're two of my favorites. Tywin is between those two groups, but it does seem like he's very Machiavellian.

Tyrion I'm still digesting. When Shae asked him to leave with her he pretty clearly indicates that he wants to stay because it's all he knows and is good at. His appeal to Tywin for Casterly Rock, though, makes me wonder. Would he like to just get away from all the scheming and retire to lord over his own lands? Have a somewhat "simpler" life? I'm not sure yet.

ETA: TDT, wasn't it said that House Lannister is the wealthiest house? Obviously you have to keep that money coming in, but when you're that wealthy the only way to move upward is to secure more political power. And as for money is power, as Cersei demonstrated to LF, "Power is power."

Disagree. I think most of their intentions are clear.

Cersei wants her son to remain king so she can influence him and have power. Littlefinger wants to be a lord, and probably wants to punish Kat for rejecting him. Tywin wants to be and is the de facto king. Tyrion just made his intentions known, but really just likes playing the game. he knows he'll never have any real power beyond his family.

Now, Varys I have no idea. Personally, I think he's an "agent provocateur" for another faction, maybe one we haven't seen yet. Then again, as a man with no weenie, maybe he just wants to burn it all down.

BTW, I've now seen this episode about 8 time, so I'm a S3E2 expert. You can ask me anything.
