I don't normally do Skillet on the F&D Board unless it's a stupid thread.

You must not read many critics' reviews. You read to see what people don't like.. If these are deal breakers for you, than you can make you call.. If the positive things people say about a place or thing are important to you, then you're better informed.
Does this really need explaining?

I have never seen so much love or hate for a damned grocery store. Especially one that has only been open for three or four days.

I was hoping for Whole Foods' butcher, Fresh Market's produce and Callandro's beer and wine selection. What I got was a nice, AG, grocery store.

Where did I say I hate the place chief? I just said its nothing special. Which it isn't. Groceries are the same as anywhere, meat included. Beer the same. Wine the same. Produce light years from WF and Fresh Market and about on par with Calandros. I don't grocery shop for sushi or plate lunches so I don't comment on those items. As I've said from the beginning I've bought from them and will continue to use them on occasion but I'm not going to mash my bag in the parking lot because it's such a great place.

Voice of reason right here. I really wished for more, but let's give them some time to get their sea legs.

We like to try new places at work for to-go lunches. We saw that Alexander's had a deli so we gave them a shot. We obviously chose the wrong things to eat because not everything they serve is very good.
All was not lost though because I snagged a couple of sleeves of 16 oz styro cups which saved me from having to stop at Ralph's on the way home.

I would go there just to loiter so I could see all the CCLA & Santa Maria tennis moms.
Alexander's parking lot looks like a Mercedes dealership.

They do have a nice selection of locally grown MILFs. Not all of them are 100% organic, though.

yes indeed... don't mind that at all.

Had to bump this thread to post this, has anyone bought sliced deli meat yet? Had to swing by the house for lunch so was going to pick up some cold cuts and bread to eat, Cajun turkey is............. 13.99 a lb!!! I almost fell over when I read the board, nothing was less than 11.99 a lb, also noticed the berries in the produce department rose from 5.25 last Thursday to 12.50 today

I got some on Friday. It's not your typical overprocessed deli meat. It actual slices of turkey breast, just like if you cooked a turkey and sliced the meat yourself. It was really good and I will order it again.
The only other place I've ordered that type of turkey from before is Whole Foods and it was $15 a pound.

I could've sworn I saw several cheaper options.

I just went to HiNabor and got cajun turkey breast for 349lb and the deli person told me if I came back after 7 I could get it for 299. Alexandra's must have gold up those turkeys asses.

you must have been standing next to my wife. She passed on the deli meat.
The parking lot is a bit tight too. Not sure why that layed out like it did.
I'll say that sausage they make is really good.

I didnt appear to be real turkey from the looks of what they have in the fridge case under the sign, there may have been something cheaper, I walked away after seeing the first few prices at > 13 a lb

Went last night with a buddy following a corporate crawfish boil. I liked it. Good blend of conventional and specialty goods in an upscale setting. Beer guy approached us and was very knowledgeable and asked if there were any other beers we would like to see. Place is gonna be great for my Mom. I will def shop there when I'm in the area and need to make some groceries. I live off Corporate right down road from WF and a place like this would see my face more if I had one closer

I've been back several times for lunch meat. They definitely have several cheaper options. And the quality has always been excellent. Just got some nitrate-free applewood smoked turkey today for $7.99 a pound. It's very good. My only complaint is the deli is a little slow. But I expect that to improve.
Beer selection is looking pretty good as well. Picked up a 4-pack of St. Arnold Icon Blue today. They have a decent selection of bombers. It's definitely way better than Albertson's/Winn Dixie type places.
