Fnatic always gives the Koreans trouble b/c of their non-traditional style. Of course it is great play from peke and the adc, but still, they can just throw out weird stuff that tilts the Koreans.

This Fnatic-OMG game is fricking INSAAAAANE.
Nexus was just 1 hit from death and OMG held them off somehow.
OMG takes it at the 71 minute mark. What a match.
And NWS is just rolling.

I would have lost my shite if I was on that team.

Something about the European teams just gives them the chance to beat the Koreans. Alliance just pitched a PERFECT game against NWS.
No deaths, no objectives.
One thing to lose the game. Another thing to get face-rolled.
Looks grim for C9 now.
Had a chance this morning to beat alliance and lock it up, but now they have to beat NWS to force a 3-way tiebreaker. Riot pls.

the crazy thing about this game to me isnt the fact the nexus was 1 hit away, but that Ryze went a 71 minute game without a single death.

The thing I loved in the alliance NWS game was that they didn't let NWS dominate vision control and it forced NWS to make some shaky mistakes which Alliance capitalized on.

I...I don't even know where to start. First C9 beat Najin White Shield...KABUM BEAT frickING ALLIANCE, LMQ collapsed, AND NOT A SINGLE frickING EU TEAM ADVANCED OUT OF GROUPS! C9 and TSM get out of groups, LMQ wins the first two then goes 0-4. Holy fricking shite what a group stage.

Enjoy it while you can. NA is now the Cinderella story. In the quarters, C9 has Samsung Blue and TSM has Samsung White.

Me and Mear just won a ranked game in gold/plat without a jungle and with 3 AP carries....This game.

SSB beat SSW 3-1 in both 5-game series this year.
SSB is weaker early game, but is a better coordinated team and performs better strategically and in team fights.
SSW is more aggressive and tends to snowball early leads.
The NA teams got unfavorable matchups. Obviously.
TSM has a stronger early game and isn't as strong in team fights or objectives.
They would have preferred to play SSB instead of SSW.
C9 has a lack-luster early game and excels at strategic objectives and team fights.
Yet, they drew SSB instead of SSW.
The group stage matches of c9 vs NWS show that NA at least can compete with the middle tier Korean teams. They did lose the series 2-1, but they didn't look like they were out of their league and had a fighting chance.
However, SSB/SSW are the best of Korea, and they should probably advance to the Semis.
I think C9 has some confidence now that they've had a few games against the Koreans "non-scrims".
TSM on the other hand, has not played the Koreans in the WC yet. Bjergsen's vlog indicated that they thought they would have to try something different than their standard matchup in order to beat SSW.
I think they've seen during their scrims vs SSW that they can't win straight up (either due to superior scouting/analysis/coaching of SSW to scheme against TSM, or just simply due to skill or team ability).
I'll go with SSB over C9 either 3-1 or 3-2.
I'll go with SSW over TSM either 3-0 or 3-1.
Basically, I think C9 will have a better result.

quote:Ehhhh. I wouldn't go that far. They were known for being the most aggressive team in NA for a long time. They've adjusted their playstyle to the meta and have started playing slower, but they can still pull out a nasty early game if the need arises.
C9 has a lack-luster early game
ETA: NWS isn't "middle-tier". They qualified as the 3rd best Korean team. They beat KTB, KTA, and SKT (only dropping a single game out of 10) to qualify. Definitely not middle tier. They aren't Samsung, but they're definitely the 3rd best team in Korea. When you consider Korea has like 24 teams, you can't really say the 3rd place team is "middle".

He said they might have to try new things because they scrimmed each other like 20 times before groups. He never said anything about indication of wins or losses. He simply said they'd have to come up with new strats since White has seen most of them from scrimming them so much. In a Korean interview, Locodoco actually said results with White and Blue were fairly even, but that for some reason TSM has a hard time playing with the same mindset on stage as they do in scrims.

quote:Meh. They've been top 5 most of the year, but they aren't the clear cut #3 team in OGN.
NWS isn't "middle-tier".
They did make a great run in Regionals to qualify, but they've been inconsistent and had a mediocre performance going 5-6 in Champions Summer.

Come on. What is he supposed to say?
"Yeah, these guys are really good and are gonna kick our arse." Yeah right.
Factually yes, he never said SSW is a lot better, but he never would right before they play... would he?
But in a vlog talking about his chances... his body language and context clues indicated that they were trying to stay positive despite the Korean pain train that was on its way.
I took it as... SSW has a lot of advantages and the few things that worked in scrims... SSW will have a chance to evaluate and fix, and TSM will have to come up with new wrinkles to catch SSW off guard to win.
They sure can't tunnel onto champions and lose in Champ Select like they did in groups and expect to win.

What is Loco supposed to say?
You are choosing to believe what you want to believe.
We'll see soon enough, but I don't want you to use "on-stage" performance as an excuse.
The play on stage at Lcs; they got rid of gleeb b/c of on stage performance.
In lol, you are what the stage says you are.

Acorn was asked about playing against the foreign teams practicing in Korea and he responded: “We’ve been scrimming against the foreign teams recently. I don’t know if they are hiding their strengths and whatnot but I have to say, there isn’t really a team that we should be concerned about.” Then he jokingly said, “We’ve only been using 50% of our strength during the scrims.”

You're right. I suppose you know more about the differences in TSM in scrims and TSM on stage than the coaches and players do.
