Yup, if you're a competitive gamer you have reds.

Nah, it's mainly preference. Sure, there's technically an advantage to reds but I would say most players like the tactile feel of Blues or Browns.

I would also say that internet forum warriors harp on the "advantage" of reds and recommend them to everybody while the pros don't give a shite and do what they like. It's the same for mice.

I don't think so, definitely makes a difference for competitive gaming where every millisecond counts.

This why you see reds for 95% of those players.

Casual gaming sure, preference and who cares it doesn't matter at all.

My only issue with you over the years concerns hype. Things that are the loudest (no pun) aren't always best or the collective opinion of a group.

I find the cult of Cherry MX Red Mages are just set on no other substitute for different reasons. They just drown out everything else.

Fyi, M.2 is a form factor. Like say ATX for MOBOs. It describes the physical spec. In this case to ensure compliance of a physical connection for separate system interface to exchange.

It has no relation to performance, that happens with the bus or interface and logic. SATA is an interface, pCIe is an interface. Then a logic controller to know what to do with the bits coming over the interface. So recently we moved mainly for protocols like IDE and AHCI to NVMe becoming common. There are other layers like MLC, etc but yeah.

I just see this posted all over the internet so much talking about performance. From major ppl too.

PCIe 4.0 m.2 SSD

That doesn't tell me anything but it is a 10 lane highway compared to a 2 lane highway. The CPU will be capable but storage wise it says nothing. I know nothing about the controller, protocol much less the arrangement within the cell. (How it is layered)

I still think it is some type of RAMdisk thing. Still impressive. Ppl that hardware is nothing without software. We all ful into the trap of big numbers.

It's huge news. Love it, but they the hardware had always been there for years to do something like PS done. They finally utilized the hardware. Its an awesome sounding feature and I can't wait to use.
