Wanted to post this last week but Harvey clean up sort of got in the way.
"The Mote in God's Eye" isn't the greatest but one of the first to introduce me to SciFi. It was my favorite book until Daniel Suarez's techno-thriller "Daemon".

Looking to update my older build. What price am i looking at for just a budget build? Doesn't have to be top of the line. I think i did my last build for between $600-$700, is that still possible?

What all are you wanting to upgrade? CPU+Mobo and a new GPU? Or you needing new case, PSU, SSD, etc?

I would like to get away with just doing a CPU + MOBo + GPU. I would have to see if my PSU could push what I got.

This is assuming you will need DDR4 memory as well.

Guess the leap forward in GPU power stressed him out. He did apologize for that, poor guy. Guess he needs more time to reflect more on the decision to steal headlines with HBM.

AMD Radeon Technologies Group Raja Koduri Goes on Sabbatical
quote:
Radeon Technologies Group SVP and Chief Architect Raja Koduri is taking sabbatical from AMD as of today, with a target return date in December. As first reported by our friends at Fudzilla (and also Tweaktown), and that I was able to confirm through AMD this evening, one of our favorite people in the graphics industry will be stepping aside for the time being. AMD CEO Lisa Su will be taking over the Radeon Technologies Group in the interim.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming w/ GTX 1060 and Thunderbolt 3 for $999
I picked up this same laptop with a 1050 Ti about 3 weeks ago. Luckily I can exchange thru AMEX. Will pay additional $75 bucks out of pocket but IMO worth it for a 1060.

HBM was the right call, always advance technology don't be scared. He is the best mind in the industry, wish he had a huge R&D budget to work with instead of such a small one.
Vega 56 is a monster god damn am I happy.

Also, I forgot to link you guys my new PC pics (for proof) I built back in April. Probably upgrade free Dell monitor to a 4K monitor once games are flowing on that; currently looking to get a glass case to replace cheap $30 case.

Damn I've never seen a top mounted PSU before!
Posted on 9/14/17 at 10:22 pm to UltimateHog
Its not, just an old HAF on its face.
A lot of cases come with top mounted. For a while it was a trend. I am glad this ended. Water cooling and the need for top mounted rads in high end case market probably help end that trend.
