Civilization V, a few older games like Star Wars KOTOR, Kerbal Space Program. Games like that. I won't be playing CoD, Watch_Dogs, GTA V, or anything like that on it. Well, Skyrim with mods would be one.

Get the 270x from ilikelsutoo
Posted on 7/31/14 at 8:56 pm to Henry Jones Jr
For 100 bucks plus shipping, you can't beat the 270x.

I know but I'm just exploring all of my options

Seems odd you're going with an Intel build and considering lower-end GPUs to save money.

I was the same way. I probably drove bruce crazy during my gpu search. I highly doubt you'll find a better deal than the 270x.

$100 is cheap and it's a great GPU for that price. Or you can use the shitty 745 that your "friend" is trying to dump on you. Max settings my arse.

I mean he literally just gave it to me.
Alright. What about an AMD Radeon R9 280X but the CPU is AMD FX-Series FX-6300 (3.50GHz). I've never used any CPU or video cards outside of Intel and NVIDIA so I'm a bit wary.

I've finally started to understand how to shop for graphics cards and CPUs a little.
With the CPU I listed, would that run alright together?

Yes,they will run fine together.
Do you have a mb picked out?

Pretty much. I think I'm going with MSI X79A-GD45 Plus but I'm still considering spending a little extra on an ASUS P9X79 LE

That mb and cpu aren't compatible. If you use the amd cpu, you'll need an am3+ mb.
Posted on 8/1/14 at 8:52 am to Devious
Well damn. Do you have any suggestions?
Posted on 8/1/14 at 9:10 am to Henry Jones Jr
Should I have any compatibility issues with monitors and speakers or is it pretty much guaranteed they will work with anything?

Please, for the love of god give me a total budget and buy exactly what I say.
