It easily has the potential to be even better than 2013, even with 2-3 less players.

He certainly surprised everyone in a good way!
Icing on the cake was getting him during the early signing period. This staff is unbelievable.

Give me a percentage exum comes to college for one year.
15%? cause I feel like if he goes to college, it'll be at LSU.
Even without him though, listen to the kid coming in this weekend talking bout us.
"something great is happening at LSU"
We bout to knock uk off that high perch and compete with them year in, year out.

David Patrick is one hell of a recruiter. He was visiting Gray a day before the signing period ended and obviously helped push us over the top.

Chad Ford said Exum and his family are leaning towards the draft, which is the opposite of what was being said a few months ago.

I haven't followed Exum's recruitment lately, but I think he'll probably go pro. If he doesn't, I think he has some other schools (Indiana, UNC, etc.) before LSU.

Watched Chad Lott, 6'3" 2015 prospect from Byrd High School in Shreveport, play tonight. Didn't impress me much. He did out up 32, but he was fouled a lot and couldn't handle pressure (clutch free throws, 3 pointers, etc). He was good, but wasn't great.

Is Malik Newman visiting this weekend?
Posted on 11/22/13 at 3:51 pm to ralsu
Supposedly. Will have to see if he actually makes it in.
Posted on 11/23/13 at 11:35 am to oauron
I haven't seen anything that confirms he's in Baton Rouge this weekend. Anyone know something?

Would be great if we could be in his top 2 or 3. Hope he had a great time

If we miraculously land Malik, JJ deserves a raise.

Stumbled across this. When asked who has the best potential in the Class of 2015:
Stumbled across this. When asked who has the best potential in the Class of 2015:

I will give you two names, because to give you just one is too hard and no fun. First, the No. 1 player in the class, Malik Newman. A shooting and scoring guard by nature with a strong body, he has an aggressive, attacking style and the right swagger to get buckets. He shoots it from deep behind the arc and finishes well at the rim because of his college-ready frame. Where he is now and where he will be is far apart, which give him plenty of upside. Potential means nothing unless one maximizes the ability. I believe Newman has plenty of room to grow.
The other prospect is Ben Simmons, who is verbally committed to LSU. The young man from Australia has a rare combination of size, skill and bounce. His greatest skill is his feel for the game and his passing, as he can also score inside the lane or facing up. When Simmons becomes more assertive throughout the game, his high ceiling of talent will be reached.

Video Interview: Newman & his dad from Louisville Courier Journal.
quote:
Callaway (Miss.) High School's Malik Newman can go to just about any college he wants. The junior combo guard is the consensus No. 1 player in the Class of 2015 and has garnered attention by everyone from Kentucky's John Calipari to North Carolina's Roy Williams.
But unlike most prospects, Newman couldn't tell you who's recruiting him. The hundreds of letters delivered to his Mississippi home remain unopened, piling up in boxes that collect dust in the storage room next to his family's garage.
How does Newman do it? With the rumors of him reclassifying to the Class of 2014, the incessant pleading by fan bases to get him to show their school interest and not being able to say anything on social media without receiving flack from people trying to analyze every move of his recruitment, the junior doesn't get caught up in the noise.
Instead, his father Horatio Webster keeps him grounded, handling all of his son's recruiting so he can keep his focus on the court. That way in a year or so, Malik will be confident in a decision that will ultimately affect his future.

It's hard to tell if that's good or bad.
