No. Kid was on his own property, having been chased by an unknown car for miles and now he is being approached by an unknown person in anger. If he is concerned for his safety, he can shoot. If you have to let someone get a first punch in, that kinda defeats the purpose of self-defense. Hard to defend yourself if you are on the ground.

The mailman followed me all the way home from work yesterday. I passed him while he was delivering mail at my work and he was already at my house when I got home (he aged 15 years but I am sure it was the same guy). He walked aggressively up to me and reached into his bag. I shot and killed him before he could hit me with his fist.
Silly, right? I hope nobody ever follows you home after a restaurant because your wife left her purse there. Same fricking thing.

It may be justifiable, but I'm fairly positive you would be fighting that one in court. Cops should have been called, window should have been up.
