Tobacco use by younger vs older sportsmen

My question is do you view the hazards of dip or cigarettes differently among younger and older individuals. I quit in my 20s because the negative health benefits are just to hard to ignore however enjoyable the use may be. When I see a younger individual use tobacco I think he should probably quit before it does too much detriment. When I see someone 40+ using tobacco I wonder if they just figure it's too late to stop now and they just are going to role the dice. what are the esteemed medics of the OBs views?

i dip... i chew...
dad chews
grandpaw chewed til the day he died and had pearly whites.
its everyones life, i enjoy a good dip fishing or hunting. i just enjoy it. im sure there are negative health benefits, just like there is drinking a soda pop or eating processed food. but hey, YOLO!

Although smokless tobacco can cause cancer and tooth decay, I think the risk are much greater with smoking. For this reason I do not smoke. My dad quit for about a year and as a life long smoker who is now 60 it hurt me when he started back up.
That said, with the warnings out there today there is nothing I can say they wouldnt have already heard so I just pray for them.

It is pretty depressing to abstain on a great fishing trip and see some much older person enjoying some tabaccy.

why?
I used to get a huge arse dip during a game in college and spread it from all the way to the back of my teeth to the front.
I'm talking a turkey leg dip if you know what I'm talking about

Parents are smokers I do not smoke and neither does my wife. I have 2 kids and hopefully they choose not to use tabacco products and become hooked.
I agree its not a good thing to start up but I am not going to go up to people and start reading them the riot act about tabacco and what it can do. If you are grown and I am not buying it for you do what you like.

I quit smoking after 8 years, quit drinking a few years ago, so my only vice is a pinch or 100 of dip per day.
Dad was a 30 year smoker, quit 4 years ago and got on grizz pouches. Wife is in the medical field and despises it, so I will just let her handle the kids if it ever comes up.
