thank you, sir..

A lot of people seem to talk in absolutes with everything.

i see this as a big part of the problem with restaurant discussions on here. too many end up being, "this place is great, this place is horrible" type debates, when reality is probably somewhere in the middle. people like to talk in extremes but it isn't very productive or, likely, very honset in these restaurant discussions. the jimmy johns thread from yesterday is a prime example...the first page is filled with people say it is terrible and the worst sandwich they've ever had. i hardly believe that is true, or that the place is really all that bad. it just probably isn't all that special..

Hey, it's possible. Why don't you take a science class or something.

It is rather ambiguous, would they say 'I've never had a great meal there' also?. 'I've enjoyed everything I've had there' is a better endorsement.

"I'd rather lick the ear grease off a pay phone", or "I'd rather chew on aluminum foil" is somewhat less complimentary, but very clear.

I noticed that in the Jimmy John's thread also.

I've eaten there and it is not close to being the worst sandwich I have ever eaten. I also noticed that in the Drago's thread also. Some people saying it sucks when there is a reason Dragos is so popular. I'm sure some of their dishes are mediocre but I doubt they all suck.

At first this used to drive me nuts when I had my restaurant. A lot of people would rave about one of our daily specials then all of a sudden (that same day and same meal) I would get a person calling me up wanting a refund because it sucked when they got it back to their office. It was so bad they couldn't eat it. Same with poboys. I would have people praising me for my poboys one day then I would have a really negative review or complaint that same day on a poboy I fixed the same way that everybody else praised me on.

Food is so subjective to the person reviewing it.

So you agree food is subjective and everyone has different taste. But you can't see why one would say JJ is awful. That is truly baffling.
