Benjamin Watson to a three-year contract earlier Monday.
"He's versatile," Payton said. "He's one of those players when you watch the tape: he run blocks well, he's a threat in the passing game, he plays with great leverage, he plays with great experience. He does a lot of things well. When we watched the film on him, we kept getting back to how many times we were putting a tackle in the game to report eligible. I think his signing will maybe give us more versatility."

Only if it's all guaranteed. Which I doubt.
Look at what I quoted.

Good sign by the Saints. Good solid, veteran TE who would be a great backup for us.

I don't care if its a ten year deal cause the only thing that matters is signing bonus and guaranteed money.
Good solid 2nd TE.

Reporting an eligible T was a dead give away. Glad we realized this. Great sign!!

Great signing, this guy would have put up more stats with solid QB play in Cleveland

Definite upgrade from last year. Solid pickup.
Still, wouldn't be surprised if we go after a project, pass catching specialist TE for the practice squad. Either late rounds or more than likely an un-drafted free agent.

To all my folks down in New Orleans, please give a warm welcome to your newest Saint, my good friend
solid #2 in place! Still could see a TE drafted 4th-6th Rd if it was overwhelming value

"There were a couple of other teams (interested in signing Watson), but the Saints are really the team that came at me the most," Watson said. "They really wanted me to be a part of the organization. When a team wants you to be a part of the organization and the head coach calls you personally and tells you he wants you to be a part of the organization it means a lot.
"And the city of New Orleans is definitely a city that I look forward to being a part of. The people from New Orleans are some of the most gracious and passionate people that I know. The fan base here is second to none. It's really an exciting time for me and my family."
But that's not the only reason Watson, whose wife Kirsten is a Baton Rouge native, signed with the Saints.

It really is. Still productive and can teach Graham.

Good signing, he'll be a good second TE and is a good blocker on the move. Also can provide another veteran presence in the locker room.

quote:It's rewarding as a fan to have rival players notice the kind of fan base we have. The passion really is second to none, and I think that's why we have so many Saint-tards. Okay, maybe that's not why, but it is still nice to hear an outside player commend our passion. Now he get's to experience what it feels like to have a fan willing to kiss your arse one play and slit your throat the next. Good luck Watz.
The fan base here is second to none.

It's good to hear, but come on....you have to think he's just being a little PR saavy, too ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Well it would be one thing to say "the fans are great", but for him to specify the PASSION, you know he means it. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)
