I swear I thought about you yesterday and had to laugh. I was checking a hoop net when I noticed a cottonmouth about 4 foot off the ground in a dead fallen tree next to me near the edge of the bayou.
Realized I'd forgotten my .22 and my .410 I usually leave in my truck so I go get my Glock 19. Shot the snake at point blank range and hit it but it made it to the bayou.
Saw blood so I know it won't make it but dam.

I have the XD .40. Best pistol I've ever owned. Fits my hand perfect, I've never had a single issue with it. Like you say, comes moth more stuff in the box, and the compact has a nice grip extension. I added a nice flashlight to mine for when I'm in the woods if I need it. Take it off when I'm shooting bc it's a Lil heavy. My next pistol will be a XDM 9mm in the Sahara tan. The .40 is in the military green and black. Clean looking gun.

Honestly Blocks and Springfields are two different firearms. Some people like the Glock, some don't. Get one that is comfortable in your hand.
If you're wanting to get the .40 and .357 Sig kit, I'd look at the XD since the XDM doesn't have the .357 option. I have an XDM 4.5" .40 and think it's a great gun. For a .45 XDM is a good choice, or the XDS for conceal carry.

The Springfield XD subcompact is only like 1/4" wider than the xds. Does that 1/4" make a lot of difference when CC?
For me, yes it does.

The width is going to be the issue with CC, that is why everyone likes the single stacks. A car/travel pistol is a completely different set of criteria.
Amen!
I don't know why Springfield calls their double stack small one a "subcompact" because in my mind, they're still just "compacts", which are usually smaller versions of full-sized double-stacks. To me, a subcompact is a small single-stack handgun, like the XDs, which is MUCH smaller and THINNER than the XD "subcompact."
So, on to the other part of this - I completely agree that "car gun" and "CC gun" are different. LSUBrad, if you haven't watched my First Time Buyers video, I suggest you do. Even if you have bought some in the past, it's good to get a refresher on the sizes and such.
First Time Buyers
Personally, I think the best middle ground for a handgun that must fit both roles of a "Car gun" and a "CC gun," a compact is the way to go. It has the ability to accept full sized mags but also retains a small profile with the smaller mags. My Ruger SR9c is perfect for this, although my Kahr CM9 is in the car most of the time.
If you want it to be a dedicated concealed gun, go single stack and you won't regret it. You can incorporate your larger guns into your carry rotation later on but your smaller gun will get carried more often. Start there and then slowly move to the bigger handguns.

Looks like I'm going Springfied now I'm gonna go and see which one i like the feel of.
I have tried an Xd in. 45 and liked it.
I think I'll get a full sized 9mm and a compact 9mm for the wife, and a. 40& .45 full size for myself.
Not all at the same time but i think I'll get the 9's first.

Love my xdm 9. Shooting them back to back, the Glock did not feel as good in my hand.

I like the feel of Springfields better, but ymmv.
