The whole point of the skit is that all of those people relocated to Maine after Katrina.
I think you are missing the point. The humor in that skit is a play on many levels. The advent of Hollywood South and the influx of these "reality shows" all based in Louisiana, and how far they really are from the reality is the real comedy.
Using a very Jewish name for a graduate of LSU compounds the ludicrousness of some of those shows.
These actors and writers have now spent quite a lot of time in NOLA, and Louisiana in general. Their jokes are poking fun at many, none of whom are Louisianaians.

Yeah...now that I think about it, you are probably right. The first time the skit aired, I think they mentioned people moving there, so that's where I took that from. But it makes perfect sense with the reality show play on it.

Anytime your favorite university gets mentioned in an SNL sketch is a plus.

The original skit was very funny. There were some pretty bad reality shows in Maine recently that had people searching for alligators. The original skit poked fun at that as well as the culture of - swamp people - bayou billionaires - duck dynasty - my big redneck vacation, etc. and how far it was from alligators in Maine.
It was stupid and perhaps a bit of a reach for the writers, but it was funny in a Fletch Lives sort of way. It was so stupid that the Jamie Foxx of In Living Color could not keep a straight face when Judge Marshall T. Boudreaux served up a helping spoon of .............

If Christ posted about his second coming, a rantard would hate on it.
