Tell me about Eotech's XPS3 reticle differences

XPS3-0 = Circle Dot
XPS3-1 = DOT only
XPS3-2 = Circle Dot, and lower dot
I understand how the two dot system works in terms of helping target an object further out etc... What I want to find is some friendly opinions/experience of whether or not the circle itself feels obstructive.
My gut instinct tells me to get just the DOT only, no circle dot. And, my brain tells me to get the double dot system for a longer shot, and just get used to the circle. It seems like SUCH a distraction though, and I can't dig up anyone talking about this. Thoughts?

I was convinced for about 2 months that I wanted an aimpoint micro t... but, i am totally off that and in favor of the eotech now for field of vision and quicker target acquisition. i think i'll deal with the "shitty" battery life of 6 months and carry a spare or two if shtf.

btw, y'all that are pissed at eachother for the scope they purchased, do y'all have enough experience with either of your scopes to chime in on my question?

A couple of guys in my unit in Iraq had EOTechs, and they seemed to be ok other than the battery issues honestly.
I always had an Aimpoint or a Trijicon, so thats what I'm sticking with.

I've had and used both Eotech and Aimpoint a good bit and much prefer Aimpoint because of the battery life. I am a forgetful mofo and I get 5 years always on vs a week or two with the eotech. I don't notice much diff in field of view.
That wasn't your question though. Yes the circle was too obstructive for me. The single dot is good for someone with average eyesight out to 200 yards or so. If you're shooting farther than that, you need a scope.
Personally, if I didn't want an aimpoint for whatever reason, I'd go with a Trijicon RMR with the protective hood and skip the Eotech altogether. It's lightweight, great field of view, rugged and like the Aimpoint, you can leave it on for a couple years.

DOH! well, that puts me down to the one they have without the circle. at least they offer it, i just wish there was a model with two dots, no circle.
i'll check into that trijicon RMR, but i bet that'll be more than i wanna spend. no magnification on it, right? pure red dot?
btw, that's super helpful. thx. i just can't imagine not being frustrated with that damn circle.

Think they're about $350-400...no magnification, just a dot.

Always hate when i get the rifle with the eotech when playing call of duty.

coincidentally, i do too. lol... but i'm not going pure reflex sight like i set up on my ACR in that game.
the reflex stuff is super lightweight housing from what i gather, and i want one that can take an arse beating.

I've used both eotechs and aimpoints a good amount and can tell you I prefer the aimpoints
Field of view be damned. Its a red dot sight both your eyes should be open regardless. When I'm looking through the optic I just see a floating dot not a tube with a dot inside.
Also keep in mind eotechs get fuzzy when you throw a magnifier behind them whereas aimpoints do not.
If you're dead set on an eotech forget about the 2 dot reticle you should be able to make holds without an indicator plus anything over 300m is not gonna be a science with an eotech. The 2 dots just distract IMO.

awesome post. thx! i'll take that into consideration. how bad does the fuzzy effect get? i wasn't really considering the magnifier anyway, but now that it seems like i can't do it... makes me wonder if i ought consider that.
after all, i'm going xps3 (right now) because it's NV compatible and may hit the lottery eventually.

It's definitely enough to make it difficult to "center" the dot at longer ranges.
I like the eotechs but I wouldn't use them for anything but cqb
