Search you-tube for anything r/c. It's amazing what's out there. Check out the Connolly v-8. If I knew how to do a link I would, but I don't. Sorry.

I need to back away from this thread. My wife will def file for divorce if I pick up another expensive hobby.

We bought our son a Traxxas Grave Digger for his birthday a few weeks back. Trying to figure it all out..

Yeah, brushless motors have made the nitro world almost not worth the hassle.
Takes a lot of work to keep nitros tuned and running good.
And the electrics have instantaneous power!

It's addictive, but don't get me wrong, you can get a great setup nowadays for a fraction of what it took just a few years ago. Lots of good stuff on e-bay and Craigslist too if you trust that sort of thing.

When I bought mine in 2006, the 2.4ghz radios were just hitting the market. I paid an extra $200 for a Spektrum Dx3, which was the first of its kind on the market. It was a huge monstrosity of a radio. Now, almost all ready-to-run's come with the new radios and they're cheaper than they were 5 years ago...

I had a pretty cool electric plane. My wife kept on begging me to fly it, I finally let her and she destroyed it in 30 seconds
I would like to get some kind of speed boat for the lake in my back yard

What are some "ready to run" ones I should be looking at? I know absolutely nothing about these things

Traxxas is a very good brand with all prices ranges

I second this. Traxxas is the way to go for ready to run. I'd recommend a novice sticking to electric. It's just so much easier and the technology has come much farther than nitro.
If you want a 4x4 truck go with the Revo. If you want a 2wd stadium buggy go with the Jato.

Here's Hammertime running his buddy's rc plane.

The traxxas stampede 4x4 is one bad electric RC truck. But i am sure it costs a decent amount.

T-maxx is a perfect truck. Comes in both nitro or electric. Unlimited possibilities, unlimited fun! I prefer the nitro, but follow the break-in procedure to the t, or it will lead you a dogs life.

I had the T-maxx was a good truck

This is my dx-3. Best thing I ever bought. I can run all my trucks with one remote and program throttle % which takes some of the guess work out of breaking in engines.

Those electric boats are insane. Freaking water cooled motors and speed controls.

Yeah that's the 3rd or 4th generation dx3.
I'd be embarrassed to go to a track with my fossilized radio.
