I'm talking about the K-Lady's of the world, not the average fan like you.
Also, it's fricking stupid to applaud a good play by the opposition when we are losing or a close game late.
Only team in America that does that are LSU baseball fans.

The article that the OP posted is one the "LSU has the greatest and classiest and most knowledgable fans ever" crowd can jack off to.

Let's applaud their starting pitcher when he leaves the game!!! That's the classy thing to do and we are known for it!!
Pretty much this. I believe there are many LSU fans that do this just to have people say good things about them.
But perhaps it was the Stony Brook victory lap that sent me over the edge. That is never, ever, ever, acceptable. Show class, yes, but a victory lap? Absolutely not. That reeks very much of "Hey look at me. Did you see what I did?"

And what in the hell is wrong with this? Good lord some of you miserable fricks take sports, college sports with 20 year olds, way too seriously.

God forbid a few fans can think beyond a game and are happy for kids who never thought they had a chance.

Agreed. You fit in just fine with the other assholes.....

You can only expect class from Brown.

I have always wanted to fit in.
It's just a culture I don't understand. This whole "applaud the other team for a great play" crap only seems to apply to baseball. I didn't see too many of these applauses when Bama beat us with that screen pass last year...and I thought that was a HELL of a play.
Why is baseball different?

If you don't know, then I can't explain it to you.
It started under Bertman who preached to his players and the fans to "respect the opponent." I do.

Because it's a different sport. You're butthurt about it because you're approaching it with a football mindset b

That's a little different I don't think anyone would clap if they hit a game winning HR. Hell, some might
But we sure as hell didn't clap when Arkansas made a nice dunk against us when we were up by 22 in the 1st half on Wednesday.
Or a WR for mcnesse st makes a nice catch to get a 1st down.
Yet we are still quick to bitch at Jacoby Jones for hitting .296 yet we will applaud when he gets a line drive base hit stolen away because of a nice play by the opposition.

It doesn't happen at basketball either...or volleyball...or soccer...so football mindset has nothing to do with it.

Love the positive remarks in regards to LSUs baseball program.

How come no other team in America, both professional or college, or HS does it?

Is this where i sign up for the anti-high five club?
Posted on 3/1/13 at 11:40 am to LSUzealot
it's got to be a sportscenter top 10 type of play before I clap... and even then it can't affect our chances of winning that much

Maybe it's a generational thing; many geezers (anyone over 40) started attending games back in late 80/early 90s. They have watched a lot of baseball, they know the game well, and when LSU was dominating, they began the tradition of acknowledging big plays and performances for other teams. They don't post on TD I assure you so they would have a hard time understanding yourvoutrage. They aren't gonna stop a tradition just because a few younger guys disapprove.
I root for SEC teams to win OOC games too; I've been doing it for too long to hate em all now.

Don't you remember all those times fans cheered when the opponent scores a TD in Tiger Stadium???
Get your head out of your rear!
Posted on 3/1/13 at 11:41 am to LSUGrad9295
Don't you get it Grad, we're the assholes because it bothers us when we lose. We're the assholes because just walking out the stadium after the loss is as bad as throwing piss balloons at the other team. Not giving the opposing team a handjob after every great play means we don't respect them.
Or, it could mean we're fricking normal people.

Still doesn't make sense...by that logic, you would cheer great plays made by the opposition and any sporting event you went to....yet this phenomenon only seems to happen at baseball.
Again...not totally trying to be an arse...just trying to grasp something that has eluded me for 25 years.
