Damn, that's a nice one.
Are they worth eating from there? I was under the impression it was contaminated like the LSU lakes.

water quality in SOME of the lagoons is outstanding in others it is borderline and yet others it is a toxic soup....
with the herbicides I wouldn't eat any fish that is in the immediate watershed of a golf course..

I almost won the rodeo a few years back when I went with an ex's dad. Way too many fishermen and not enough water. I did however cheat and bring a yak into one of the far ponds of the golf course.

I finished 2nd 3 times. All three times the person that finished 1st barely beat me and cheated.
2 were from the same family. Both were in fly rod division and fish not only with regular rods but with live bait. both admitted it a while after the rodeo.
the third. same thing was a hungover college kid and accidentally entered in fly rod - didn't realize it until he went to weigh in his fish....
seen a lot of things in one really good fishing spot there that just can't be un seen...
did have to go tactical fishing bayou st john in pirogues in 89.. our trucks were getting looked at... we slipped up real quiet.. and unleashed some fury.. one of em almost got hit by a car trying to get away. I snuck up and grabbed one that had his legs hanging out of my buddies truck...it was not a pleasant egress from the truck - his friend came to help him but saw what was happening to his "wardie".... and ran to the hills almost getting killed by a barqes truck..
back in the 80s st john was heavily stocked with wipers(white hybrid stripers) very few people knew and fishing for them was pretty good - if you knew how to find them...

If you aint cheating you aint trying was the motto I always heard over there. I won the kids catfish one easily with a monster lol. Only problem was I wasn't a kid and I couldn't win.
