I don't think he kept believing it per se, but once he ran away, he realized he couldn't go back because A) he was going to be blamed for his father's death and B) well, running away like a coward. He wasn't that person, er, lion, anymore. Even if it wasn't true, he did rightfully believe Scar had pinned the death on him.

I do think Little Mermaid has the best songs (the Sebastian chase sequence? Tres bon!), but I'll take Lion King's symphonic score.

Exactly. And he truly believes he killed his father until Scar makes his confession at the very end. He stayed away not just for his own good, but for (what he thought was) everyone else's as well.

And I just want to say that this thread is fantastic.
