I think it's the best thing to happen to Gallaraga, who would've been completely forgotten had that call not have cost him a perfect game. Instead of being a footnote, his imperfect game will be remembered forever
So you want to be Harvey Haddix?
Does Joyce say the call should be reversed? Then I'll respect him

Roy Jones Jr. getting absolutely jobbed by the South Koreans in the Olympic Gold Medal bout in 1988. There's nothing else close.
That was more of a fix than a screw up.

Undefeated Auburn in 04 not playing for a national title.

Drafting Sam Bowie
Winner!
The Trailblazers have two all-time screw-ups in the NBA draft - Bowie and Oden. Oh, what might have been!

That's why I'm not listing the US-USSR basketball game in the 1972 Olympics (mentioned by H-Town Tiger in another thread)

Every expert at the time agreed it was the right pick
Except, it wasn't. It was the worst pick in NBA draft history, regardless of what "every expert at the time" thought. Same with Oden (the next Bill Russell?. . . ).

I know its probably the recency effect and being a Braves homer and all but, last year's NL Wild Card game saw what I believe the only to be the only infield fly in history to land more than 30 yds deep into LF

If Roy would've been healthy and they draft Durant they might have developed into one of the very best offensive combos in league history. Two great scorers and pretty good guys to boot.

I thought it was the absolute correct call and I'm glad he went for it. I respected Tom Osborne all the more for it. You either deserve the title or you don't. Play for the win. I think it's the single BEST call in sports, because it shows a philosophy I whole-heartedly endorse. No shortcuts. He didn't try and take the cheap way.

Bartman isn't close. Not his fault they continued to choke. Plus he's a fan. He paid money to be there. Not the other way around. Most people would probably do the same thing.
Exactly. Bartman had nothing to do with it. The better team clearly won.

Drafting Sam Bowie
He lied to the blazers about his health in pre draft medical exams. Telling the doctors his knees didnt hurt when they did. Annoying how everyone acts like its this awful decision, when if Bowie was honest, blazers don't draft him

There has to be room for a Van de Velde on this list somewhere:
Hitting driver on 18 at the Open Championship or
Turning down La Tech's only bowl bid in 2012.

When Ray Finkle missed the 26 yard field goal in the closing seconds and the Dolphins lost the Super Bowl by 1 point.

Rather than some anonymous pitcher? YES! Of course I would. People will always remember Haddix and Gallaraga despite the fact that neither were star players. Len Barker threw a perfect game. And while that's cool for Len Barker, I had to look it up on wikipedia. I only have the vaguest recollections of him. Tom Browning threw one, and he was a nice pitcher, but he's been largely forgotten.
Yet, Haddix, who didn't even throw a no-hitter, is instantly known by most baseball fans. I'm sure it sucked at the time, but given hindsight, that's the best moment of Haddix's professional life. People still talk about his lost no-hitter.

Didn't they take Drexler the year before though? Wasn't he mainly a 2 guard for them?

Not to mention the fact that they had a top 50 all-time, HOF, 10 time all star who played the same position as Jordan on the team already.
