60's & 70's edition:
David Canary played Candy on Bonanza after Pernell Roberts (Adam) left for whatever.
Dick Sargent replaced Dick York as Darin in Bewitched.
Barry Livingston came in and played Ernie after Robbie got married and left home.
George Lindsey (Goober) took over the gas pumps at Wally's service station when Jim Nabors (Gomer) left for The Marines.
Not an actor but Johnny Carson replaced Steve Allen on The Tonight Show and made it even larger than before.

Don Knotts (Mr. Furley) replaced Norman Fell (Mr. Roper) on Three's Company.

One that got better was Gunsmoke wKen Curtis (Festus) replaced Dennis Weaver (Chester).
Then Curtis went on to even more fame as the host of the rodeo in Monroe ever year!

-You could certainly look at a number of characters from the Office.
The Office is still a great show and a premise that will never be played out. I wish it would carry on.

I didn't even read that as too late. Ignore the majority of my posts.
The Bonanza one stands under this light because the older ones with Candy suck. Most of the others were just as good or better after the change.
Three's Company's still fits in because the main characters changed too much and by the time Don Knotts arrived, it sucked.

There have been more Parks and Rec episodes with Rob Lowe and Adam Scott than without them. Don't see how they really qualify for this one.

Ben Browder and Claudia Black - Stargate SG-1

Jon Lovitz - Newsradio
Terrible conditions and it wasn't Lovitz's fault the show didn't survive the homicide of the late, great Phil Hartman.
At the time it was my favorite show and he was my favorite actor (TV actor, anyway). Sad, but, it is what it is.

Her name escapes me, but the chick who plays Denise in scrubs. Thought the character was cool. But the poor chick got stuck in season 9
