Cheers holds up well after all these years

Show ran from 1982 to 1993 and I was finally old enough to start watching with my parents in mid/late 80's.
Started watching again on Netflix and I still find it funny. A few jokes I never would have gotten as a kid have me laughing now.
Sam Malone is the man, but I wanna be Norm.

One of the all time greats early in its run, but it went considerably downhill in its later years (after the original producers left)

I'm into season 5 and still finding it amusing right now. Although early years with coach are obviously the best.

Time to revive the great debate of the era: Diane or Rebecca?

Rebecca of course was much hotter but the Diane period was much funnier

I loved the entire series. I liked Coach and Woody equally. Rebecca was hotter, but Diane was a better character.
Norm and Cliff were my favorite characters. Fraiser was great, too. The old man who made perverted jokes from time to time was my favorite side-character.

Watched some episodes with my son and he found them funny as well.
But damn that show was dimly lit!

It is pretty amazing how good a lot of the late 80s media actually was and I was too young to really appreciate it then. A few years ago I went back and downloaded the Police albums and they are lyrically brilliant but none of the lyrics had any relevance to me when I was younger. Cheers is the same way, I was too young to appreciate all of it but now that I am older, I can understand the whole show.

Top 3 favorite show all-time for me. Really, Mayday Malone is the only reason I consider myself somewhat of a Sox fan.

Two of my sons best friends are twins. They played Fraiser and Lilliths son Frederick. They appeared very briefly in three episodes. They still get residuals checks.

I started rewatching it about a week ago. One of the best shows ever.

I liked Paul. They were always shitting on poor Paul.

Hilarious show.
I always liked it when they messed with Gary.

Frasier Crane is my second favorite comedy character of all time, second only to the late, great Phil Hartman's Bill McNeil.
Cheers was one of those shows that was just extraordinarily well-cast, and had excellent writers so the material was strong. After a weak start, they dominated the ratings (and rightly so). A comedy that could be smart and base at the same time - a rare gift to be able to pull that off.

Agreed, Cheers was great.
Check out Taxi. Awesome series, too. Louie DePalma and Jim Ignatowski were other all-time great characters from that time.
