THANK YOU.....MY GOD did that take WAY too long.
Yes, Auburn and the 5 missed FG - just freaking funny.
OTS bounce pass at the swamp with Urban pointing first down in UF's favor.
07 NC was not a horseshoe, but getting to it certainly was
and back to Broski with Warren's blast - you rock. Thank you

I don't think Warren Morris's home run was lucky. It was clutch. Yes, he had no home runs, but he also spent the entire regular season recovering from a broken wrist. Don't act like he was a .200 hitter with no power.

thank you, people always try to make it out that he was some scrub who was lucky to be in the position he was. people also forget he was batting like .450 in the NCAAT and on through the CWS. And the kid had some power. He hit 15 home runs his rookie year in the majors.

Tenn 2010 was pretty damn lucky imo.

How about early 90's Vandy @ TS? Vandy about to go in for a one yard score to ice it, and the dude fumbles to Wayne Williams @ the goal line. A HORRIBLE Vandy team. Not your James Franklin 'Dores.
- 07 auburn. Flynn to Byrd. Still a stupid call.
-08 USCe. Garcia would've scored if not for that crushing, stone cold elbow thrown by....the ref.
-10 tenn. has to be #1. Dumb coaching/poor clock management trumped by even dumber coaching.
-10 fla- that ball wasn't supposed to hit the turf. Was supposed to go down like the colt David/USCe game.

Can I nominate Corey Webster's no call against Alabama. That marked the first time in the modern era that an LSU player received a superstar call.

The non-pass interference call in the endzone when LSU interecepted the ball against Bama a few years back. Bama was going in to essentially put the game away, but we were fortunate a flag wasn't thrown. That turned the game around.

I think we are talking about the same play, but Bama wasn't about to put the game away.

Had they scored a touchdown there, the could have taken a 17-6 lead.

No the stupid call (that worked) was a fourth down conversion from inches. We lined up in our set with the recessed offensive linemen. All you had to do was go behind Big Herm and we would have gotten the first. The play has, as far as I know, never been stopped since Les has been here in short yardage situations.
Given all of that, Les and the Wizard call fake QB sweep, HB throw back. If it weren't for Keiland Williams beasting--he made a great catch and then broke a tackle to barely get the first, we would remember that game for how frickING stupid a call that was when Flynn falling forward would have given us a first.

Yeah was thinking about this one and watched it from that sidline right in front me and was looking for the flag but luckily nowhere to be found!
Guess made up for 99 when JBooty tried to run in was stopped short with a Gump down and the clock kept ticking until time ran out?

if they had stopped the clock and we were able to get another play off and won the game, that would have been us getting lucky. i don't know why people, at the time and now, still complain about that. we got stuffed and didn't deserve to benefit by someone getting hurt. if he doesn't get hurt, the clock still runs out and we lose. winning a game because of a fluke injury would be about as lucky as it gets. what it does compensate for (very very slightly) is the fact that alabama has been called for about 5% of the holding they've done since they started playing football.

How was the Oregon state game in 04 not mentioned more? The eventual Lou Groza award winner missed 3 extra points....
And Warren Morris homerun was not "lucky" it was just clutch hitting

It was 3rd & 7 from the 23. A 40 yd FG. If Flynn gets sacked, clock may have run out, or, the FG may have been 45+. Only 1 sec remained ater the catch. What if it had been tipped/bobbled/intercepted? Firelesmiles.com would've exploded.

Did anyone mention the over the shoulder bounced fake FG versus Florida?

the dumbest part about the game, imo, was the time management of everything. the previous play ended with 37 seconds left. we had one timeout left. it was 3rd down, so i understand why he wanted the clock to run down and keep the timeout: you run one more play and still have a timeout left in case flynn gets sacked. however, we waited until there was only 9 seconds left to actually snap the ball. we executed the play perfectly, but so much could have easily gone wrong there. i also agree that it's ridiculous that people made such a big deal of the clock only having 1 second left because had they needed to review the play, it clearly shows the clock ran off about 2-3 seconds of extra time. regardless, i was losing my mind in the stadium when they just kept letting the clock run down. i thought it was going to be the last play of the game and was thinking wtf are you doing les? i also don't understand the point of throwing to the endzone in that situation. there was no way auburn was going to be able to get in field goal range, and i long pass to the endzone has a much lower probability of working than trying for a short field goal.

watch the replay. yes, there was only 1 second left, but he made the catch with 4 seconds still on the clock

you're right about saving the timeout, though. read my previous post

good call. it was also very unlucky for us there was a monsoon before the game, causing our field to be an absolute joke. that totally neutralized our speed. it wasn't as bad as the citrus bowl against penn state, but it was still pretty bad.

Many people blamed LES for letting the clock run down, but it was really Flynn that let the clock run. The play was sent in plenty of time. I liked the call, but it was risky. These are the type of things you can do with a good QB. I would not want JJ or Lee in that position throwing to the endzone.
With that said, Lee did make a throw for the ages to lock up the Florida game in 2010.
