Offensive breakdown from 2005-2012 and 3 questions

I know it's hoops season now with baseball coming soon but with new OC hire I thought appropriate.
year...pass...rush...rank(yds/g).....OC........QB
2005...3174...1951......56.........Fisher.....Russell
2006...3416...2155......12.........Fisher.....Russell
2007...3363...2998......23.........Crowton....Flynn
2008...2817...2168......55.........Crowton....Lee
2009...2618...1596......112........Crowton....Jefferson
2010...2196...2438......86.........Crowton....Jefferson
2011...2250...2836......86.........Studrawa...Lee/Jefferson
2012...2607...2258......87.........Studrawa...Mettenberger
01. What are the reasons for the decided gap between 2005-2008 and 2009-2012? Was it primarily Perrilloux getting kicked off, and an ill-prepared freshman Lee taking over (Jarret finished ranked 83rd with a 115.7 QB rating. 13/16 TD/Int ratio) and then Jefferson who, quite frankly, had zero pocket presence, and had difficulties making a 2nd read. Was it Saban's recruits were gone? Simply poor QB development/recruiting?
02. Based on more passing yards than rushing in 2012 could it be said the staff wanted to pass more? It seemed to me LSU wanted to pass every game but due pass protection breakdowns, injuries, Receivers simply dropping the ball, etc, they were forced to run often.
03. For those who haven't already made up their minds: For 2013 do you see a 50/50 pass/rush ratio as a distinct possibility with a 'Total Offense' rank around 40?

Yeah, Alleva gave Miles a pay raise, a contract extension, and hired one of his closest friends to run his offense. He definitely put Miles in his place. I bet Les learned his lesson.

What is his "place" exactly?

Fair enough. I concerned myself with the primary QB for the season, whatever the reasons. Had Hatch stayed healthy, giving Lee more prep time before being thrown into the frying pan, who knows, maybe JJ never starts....I don't know.

I think ware had a couple throws to, where is wares stats. We need wares stats.

If you look at the dropoff from '08 to '09 you will see that it primarily came from rushing yardage. Our OLine that year blew dick. Lee had a 1000yard rusher in Scott his year, but JJ didn't have shite.
After that year the Rushing picked back up, but the passing never came back. That is a result of losing Perilloux and having JJ as our QB. Likely a result of conservative playcalling due to the INT laden '08.
As for offensive ranking, you will notice our ranking went from 12 to 23 from '06 to '07, but our numbers actually went up. The rise of the spread offense pushed out ranking lower despite similar numbers.

Fair assessment imo. The injuris on the Oline in 2012 were the primary cause for the disappointing season. Once we got a new set of starters fixed the offense picked back up. Unfortunately the UF game had already been lost by that point in the season.

I'd say 50/50 is around where we will end up. I could see 60/40 either way or anywhere in between. We have a good set of returning linemen, receivers and RBs. Mett has an extra year of experience. The offense should improve from last year. I'd say 3000/2200 pass/rush is about where we will end up.

This is deff plausible if Miles hands over the reigns to CC. I'm thinking a 60/40 run ratio with Blue back and Hill emerging. A few mismatches on defense and Mett keeping them honest I don't see any way they can stop Blue/Hill combo. This hire made me alot more excited for the upcoming season, although I'm always excited for LSU football.

These stats are ok-at-best. They will yield a shallow assessment.
You need to look at the percentage of possessions that yielded:
A] 4-or-more consecutive first downs -or-
B] a TD for the good,
or for the bad:
C] 3-and-out possession percentages IN THE FIRST-THRU-3RD QTRS.
Until such stats are available, you are chasing false indicators.

This has been done a million times here, and the answer is always the same.
When Lee went down in the Ole Miss game, Miles took over the offense and effectively moved it away from being more pro-style and flexible, and created a whole new offense around JJ. This should be obvious to everyone. So it just wasn't the individual players that hurt the offense (as the 2008 numbers show); it was the system itself.
As for why things didn't normalize back to old form in 2012, the only people who knew how to coach that style of offense were already gone.
Will Cam Cameron be able to return to 2005-2008 style offensive production? I don't see why he wouldn't. Even if he wins a NC however, I still don't like Les.

I don't want to get into it anymore. It's baseball season now.
