Tell that to the last 10 years of the comic. Seriously GL has been the most consistent book in comics for 10 years.
And Green Lantern isn't "gritty"

Correct. But that's why Atrocitus is there.
Have really enjoyed GL over the past few years.

I was referring more to Stewart, who is a bit more gritty.
And comic book sales mean pretty much nothing when you are talking about making money at the box office. You have to sell it to the current movie going audience, not the fans. The comic fans would probably make up 30-40% at best of what they would need from an audience to make a successful movie in Hollywood terms.
I'm not saying I dislike GL, hell I like GL and would go see Wonder Woman or Aquaman done right. It;s just a really tough sell to a normal audience.

Wonder Woman could be the best of them all with a well-written story and director. Think Speilberg crossed with 300 and thousands of beautiful women. If they follow the origin and cast it well it will be fantastic.
Agreed, but it would still be difficult to do it right and not make it hokey. The backstory is actually the best part of Wonder Woman to me, so in that way she would make a decent tie in to the JL movie, but it would still have high bust potential.
Aquaman would take a fortune to do right. Seeing the Atlantis stuff done right on film would be pretty awesome, but I can't see them spending the money they would need to do it right, particularly after Green Lantern was a minor failure or bust depending on your point of view.

I just don't understand how DC does so shitty with their films (aside from Batman) and so well with their animation, while Marvel does great with the majority of their films and shitty with their animation (aside from Spider-Man). They're Bizzaro companies.

I think MoS is going to break the bank.
They want at least Iron Man numbers for it (300 mil domestically/600 million worldwide) before they commit to a JL movie.

The average, non-comic book nerd, male doesn't want to see a movie about a female superhero. A Wonder Woman stand alone movie would just end up crappy like Elektra and Catwoman.

I liked Wolverine and the XMen, XMen Evolution, and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Not yet sold on Ultimate Spiderman.
Marvel's animated features leave a little to be desired though.

Only if it was just as badly written and directed and diverged from the source material as those both did.

Not true. They cast hot chics without a bad arse bone in their body and then make them all pmsy. They need a chic who can pass as a bad arse and happens to be very attractive (like Gina Carano, but not advocating for her to be WW) who won't be all damsel in distress every 5 minutes.
There's a reason why Sigourney Weaver gets so much respect from male sci-fi fans: She played a bad bad bitch in Ellen Ripley.

Yeah, if I were to make a Lantern film, would have been that Lantern starring Denzel Washington.

Wonder Woman's source material is pretty silly. Lasso of Truth, magic bracelets, and and invisible airplane. WW's got a lot of campiness to her. I don't see it ever working.

I don't see why it would be in the right hands. She's pretty much Thor with tits. If they could pull that off, they can certainly pull off Wonder Woman.

I think you're going off the 70's tv version. No reason why any non-comic book fan would know, but the take on the character in last 20 years has been more focused on the warrior aspect and ambassador of her tribe to the outside world. The invisible plane is gone for the most part in comics. But the lasso of truth (a gift from Hestia) and the bracelets(indestructible from the aegis of Zeus) remain. She's the foremost warrior of the DC universe. Done to this standard it could be great. Aquaman has really come alive for me in the new 52. Always loved the character but doesn't always get the best writers. Could be fantastic.

Yeah except for the fact that out of 3 of things he mentioned you say 2 still exist in her current incarnation.
Even the invisible jet has made an appearance or 2 in the DC animated universe.
I'm not saying a Wonder Woman movie can't be successful but the bungling of 2 more mainstream heroes in Superman and GL cause me to have doubts the WB can pull off a successful superhero movie outside of batman especially a female one.

This works with the Marvel world because not only do they have the brand recognition, but they took the time to layout the world in several critically successful films over the course of a decade.
DC is simply just trying to cash in on that idea. No one is going to flock to the theaters to see the film with a Nolanless Batman, one film Superman, and a bunch of characters that most do not care about and simply do not translate to film.

Green lantern was suppose to be the start of that same system but failed.

The Green Lantern, while it may have been a train wreck, was still somewhat fun.
It certainly does not fit in the Nolan Batman universe, but in a certain light it looks like it could have slid into and coexisted within Singers Superman universe.
