I'm doing something's paleo but having kids of 4 & 2 make it more difficult. Plus a wife who gets hypoglycemic if not enough carb intake

I used to have the same problem. Once I cut out carbs and lost weight, that problem vanished.

my wife is in the same boat, I'm doing paleo she is doing paleo-ish, I make Quinoa with lots of veggies in it as her carb, it keeps her from getting hypoglycemic but its more of a protein than a carb, for her its also a mental thing.
2 cups quinoa
4 cups low sodium chicken broth
1\2 cup chopped carrots
1\2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1\2 cup chopped onion
3 chopped gloves of garlic
its enough to give her a side taste with meals or as a snack. The kids like it too, instead of rice or grits.

Get this cookbook. It has tips for kids going Paleo like kid-friendly snacks and such.
Also Hulk, how was the crust once it was baked? I made the cauliflower pizza last night. It was cheaper than your recipe because it needs less flour and more cauliflower. I put a little too much almond flour, actually, thinking the dough should roll like a ball. It's messy and wet but it tastes good!
I'm thinking I could use the same recipe to make a paleo cracker for dips and stuff.

Didn't see this thread just bumped the update one. Down 12+ but vodka and red wine are in short supply. Need some variety help. Burning out on eating the same thing day after day

Just replied to the other lent thread with some meal ideas for you.
I'm up about 4 lbs and down about an inch I guess? (Pants still fit, belt tighter.) I also crossfit.
Still eating grains and dairy on Sunday to avoid an intolerance. Planning ahead has made this much better than it started out last month...

I have been eating vegan basically every Mon-Thurs then do some fish, cheese etc. on the weekends. I have maintained weight while loosing considerable amounts of muscle and strength while gaining fat. My body composition has been changed quite a bit. My mid-section is bigger and my muscles are somewhat smaller and not as hard.
I have been drinking a good bit on the weekends so that can be attributed to a good bit of the fat gain but not all of it. I haven't eaten as much veggies as I should have but in order to get my protein intake up I had to eat more ezekiel bread etc.
If I wouldn't have drank as much and at more veggies I could see myself losing 5 or more pounds during lent. Mainly from muscle loss though because my body fat % wasn't very high before this. I would have offset some of the weight loss with fat gain though because all of the crap carbs and grains that are "soooo good for you"
I have also lost a good amount of my energy and am not liking that at all. My bowl movements are a uniform consistency between normal (solid) and very soft. Don't like this either.
My general mood and swings have been more severe and my resting heart rate is the same at 60 bpm.
I genuinely hate this diet and will openly rip people who think its the greatest thing ever.
I again, do admit that if I would have stuck with the vegan routine the whole way through, didn't drink and would have eaten more veggies I would have lost a good amount of weight and gained very little, if any fat. Losing that much muscle mass isn't good weight loss if you ask me. I don't think losing muscle, losing energy, having mood swings, stomach aches and hating my food/diet in general are good things either.
Mow I did enjoy a few vegetarian meals here and there but I have already begun planning my meals for post-lent.

To each their own. It works for me. You're a good sport for sticking it out!
I don't think it's fair to "rip" anyone who tries this diet when you said you could have eaten more veggies and done it the entire 40 days, though.

True but the loss of muscle, loss of energy, mood control problems, stomach aches etc. are a decent reason.

I've been trying a paleo-esq diet since around 2/19. Basically trying to cut carbs and starches. I cheat occasionally (usually on weekends or by having something like cheese on something, but even then I'm eating not nearly as much as I was)
Weighed myself this weekend and I'm down roughly 5-10 pounds. Look and feel a ton better.
Overall I like it, though I would kill for a plate of mom's macraroni and cheese

The health part can be negated with free range grass fed food.
The whole feeling bad for eating animals part, what do you base that on?
Are you religious?
You do realize that humans and our ancestors survived and thrived off of meat.
Also, animals eat other animals all the time. So why can't we?

I've already touched on this in the beginning of this thread. Please refer to that for explanation. I am in the best shape of my life, and I feel better than ever. That's enough of a reason for me to do what I do, regardless how I got started, religion, ancestors, or other animals food choices. As I've mentioned before, looks into The China Study by T. Colin Campbell

I have no doubt that we would be more healthy if we moved to more of a plant based diet. I still have concerns over the amino acid profile of plant based proteins though.
