Has the SB kickoff ever been around noon? And I wonder if viewership would go down if it ever was moved to an earlier time than 5:30 pm.

One year it was at 11:30am.
Too early in my opinion.
I'm totally lying btw.

I think it would go down a bit, but would still be one of the most watched events.

5:30 is perfect time. Enough time to tailgate/drink before and the game ends early enough for us to be able to wake up early for work tomorrow

when was this?
That would have been 9:30 on the west coast

I thought it used to start later, and the east coast complained they had to wake up early so they changed it

You make a habit of only reading the first two sentences of a post?

If you're gonna lie, at least make it a funny one

Back in the day, the west coast didn't matter. I don't remember it being 11:30, but it was a daytime game until 15 or so years ago, then the networks discovered people would watch all the bullshite leading up to it.

The first few superbowls seem to have been early in the day from the highlights.

The Super Bowls used to start early, which is why it's always daytime in the highlights.
5:30 is the perfect time but you know with Goodell as commissioner he'll end up changing it some 8:00 or some shite

I can't speak for the early years, but IIRC by the '80s it was starting at about 3:30 at the earliest, so that some of the game ended up being played in the evening

For some reason, I'm remembering the 49'ers vs Broncos Superbowl (1990) as starting pretty early. I can recall it being such a blow out, that my friends and I went outside and started up our own game of football and it was still bright and sunny out.

The SB is getting closer and closer to prime time. It should NOT start any latter than5:00 eastern time.
