At the very least big trades should probably wait for draft night when Lewis and Carrol are about to come off the books and we can take back contracts. Teams do stupid things if they think they are about to land a big FA, see Houston really over paying for Pau Gasol because they thought it would get them NeNe too. I could see Dallas giving us their 1st to take Shawn Marion and make a run at Dwight or CP3. Improve the SF rotation for a year, add more talent to the team, and keep the powder dry for 2014 Free Agency.

Well yeah that's pretty much what I'm referencing. Everyone here seems to have this grand idea of a blockbuster trade that will make us light years better. Smaller trades to help improve our bench play would be acceptable, but right now anything else is just expecting too much

Dallas doesn't have a 1st this year.

They traded it for Lamar Odom last year.

How would that improve the SF rotation?
Shawn Marion - ugliest shot in the NBA, not a good 3pt shooter, can't hit an open jumper, getting less athletic each year he gets older.
Aminu - shot isn't that ugly, outcome of any shot outside of 5 feet from the rim equally as ugly as Marion, more athletic, and is hustling his arse off.
At this stage Marion is a slightly less athletic Aminu who, while he does play hard, doens't play as hard as Aminu is now.

Would not want this regardless of what/who we gave up, but I see where you're going with the thinking of a trade around draft time and like it.
