They love them things.
You gotta leave a foot on it though or they won't pay for it because some people try to sell them skint house cats.

We've been known to sell them for $10 not skinned or gutted or anything

I'd be a coon shootin SOB if I could get that deal on a regular basis.

No shite! Id be all over that too.
Didn't I read in another thread where Daylower said that it was illegal to sell wild harvested game? I think they were talking about pigs.....wonder if coons apply to that same concept of being illegal to sell.
I ask because the only way I think I could find a buyer (don't know a whole lot of people down here in FL) would be to put an add on Craigslist or something. And of course if it's illegal....that wouldn't be a good idea

Back in high school during a super bowl party, a couple of guys killed a coon with #7shot. They shot it like 6 times. We skinned it and cooked it the next weekend. Boiled it forever and then grilled it in a ton of bbq sauce. It was pretty comical cause with every bite you had to spit out lead shot!
I am sure that the way we cooked it was terrible, but since then I have never thought, "Man, I want some coon tonight."

Its oily as hell. The key is finding somebody who can cook it down real good after burning over an open fire. Lots a uniunz n schitt.

They busted a guy a while back here in Alex for selling coons on the side of road. He was selling the shite out of em.
There is no problem with selling wild hogs as they aren't "wild" animals. We used to sell coons to fish markets down in the black quarters all the time.

Guess he's talking about coons? Cause you can damn sure sell hogs.

Oh, and if you have a trappers license you can sell the hell out of coons. Fact.
Posted on 1/27/13 at 1:19 am to INFIDEL
Only during the open trapping season.

This is and always been the law.
Used to trap them back in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Made real good money. Avg out over $350 a day. Then the market fell out the bottom.
Eating them, yes I did, but really didn't care for it.
All glands have to be removed. Not just the ones under the front legs, but also the ones around the neck. If one doesn't, just throw away the coon and the pot you cooked it in.

Had some neighbors from back Vacherie in undergrad, who got me to try some coon gumbo. Meat seemed very dark, and a bit greasy. Not a fan

I've eaten it. not terrible, but as it's been stated several times before...you gotta cut out the glands

So I've seen roasted, BBQ, rice and gravy style, and now gumbo.... Surprised we haven't seen anyone that has fried it yet.
