Still a smaller percentage than SE Louisiana. The Catholic schools are generally smaller than the public school in the same market and the Catholic school tends to serve multiple towns. As in, Rayne does not not a Catholic school and neither does Church Point so those families send their kids to Notre Dame or St. Ed.

It's not about what's to lose; it's about the LHSAA and the majority of public schools saying that they want the private schools money but don't want to play them.

Defending state champions
Rummel (headed for select side)
Karr (headed for select side)
Parkview (headed for select side)
Curtis (headed for select side)
Ouachita Christian (headed for select side)
EVERY STATE CHAMPION WILL BE IN THE SELECT DIVISION.
Do you not get that? Do you understand why the competition on the select side will be MORE ENTICING for the next wave of Jeryl Brazils and Tre'Davious Whites?
Of the 11 kids on that list, I'd suspect Brazil, Cutrer Patterson and Beckwith would stay at their public school because it geographically would be difficult for them to go to a private school. Spears and Malone are already in private schools and the rest would be more tempted to play for a select school.

i want to see the colleges pay to put the prospects they want into select schools for the better competition... that's how you evaluate a football player
of course if it's against NCAA rules, then okay
camps aren't the Friday Night Lights, sorry

FTR, I don't think many schools took the vouchers, and I know for sure Curtis didn't.
no, I dont mean who took vouchers and who didn't. I am saying vouchers is the ultimate public vs private issue. So is this majority a direct reflection of the voucher issue being a slap in the face of the public schools?
Also how much of a factor in pushing this split agenda is the role of the Teacher's Union (the LAE)? If you find a way to push the private schools away in sports does this diminish the private schools in a way that helps the LAE and Public School admins?

Not exactly, I've been talking to a lot of head coaches in Acadiana. They blame the open recruiting by Teurlings, STM and Notre Dame for their frustrations. It's not just Evangle, Calvary and JC it's the majority of private schools.
dude get this through ur thick skull ND does not recruit. TCH and STM will somewhat recruit kids to go to either school. But to say ND recruits is freakin laughable.

One state title in 50 years.....this aint st aug of the 70s

Trust me teurlings does not recruit I have first hand knowledge to the program. They have a unbelievable coach that gets the most out off the kids.

Brazil would stay at his public school
Even though he lives about 15-20 min from st thomas aquinas? If your statement is true, a player would have no problem traveling less than 30 minutes

Indeed......they would take him back tomorrow
but he aint going back there was a reason he left in the 1st place.

I wouldn't include Lafayette in that number because it has a much higher percentage of its population attending public school than New Orleans that Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Stolen from another board:
In Lafayette Parish, only Lafayette High surpassed the 25% threshold. For the schools of choice program, (LPSS's holy grail) to be successful and continue to grow, Acadiana, Comeaux and Carencro will all be bumped to select in the next few years. Northside will either improve by growing their choice program, or they will be consolidated with David Thibodeaux High which has a 90% out of zone enrollment. You may not have a "non select" program in Lafayette parish in the near future. Yet ONLY Carencro High Prinicpal Ken Roebuck voted against this. As I said before and have questioned, what roll did the LAE play in drafting this proposal and now rule?

What about Jennings, Rayne, Iota, and the other kids they rip away? Have you ever been to a homecoming at ND? When they announce where the students are from nobody is from Crowley.
Let me educate you about ND thre fella. We have 2 feeders school in school, a feeder school in Rayne, and there is a feeder school in Iota and Church Point. All these feeder schools are Catholic elementary schools. You with me? Ok after there 8th grade they want to go to a Catholic high school. The closest high school is ND. Those parents choose to send there kids to ND. It has nothing to do with recruiting. Now the feeder school in CP and Iota we might get one or 2 players from CP and none from Iota. Rayne Ctholic we get kids from and St Mikes in Crowley. Redemptorist in Crowley we hardly ever get kids that go to ND for some reason they end up going to Crowley High. So to say we recruit is laughable. Get ur facts straight before you spew off at the mouth.

I laugh when someone says Notre Dame recruits. If they recruited so much, you'd think they'd have thought to bring in someone over 6' from time to time.
Bingo we have a winner......

i don't think rummel would have repeated but the fact they had none in 50 years before that was irrelevant

They have special programs like finance and other programs that allow kids from any district in Lafayette to attend. So there for if they want to continue getting extra state money these programs must thrive. If the thrive they will be considered a select school b/c more than 25% of students are from out of there zone. So there choices are suceed at there educational program or quit and lose money just to play football in non select.

Putting them in the same sentence with perennial state champs is wrong..
