The Hornets need to increase their talent level, not redistribute it. The only good trades for the Hornets would be if a guy is getting dumped, they are getting paid to facilitate a trade, or they can trade their draft pick for a young vet that fits well. They just don't have enough assets to trade for a good player without it being a 1 step forward 2 steps back move.

Logical answer. Agree that you may be right, but I think that the only "young vets" really worth our pick aren't going to move, since the contracts post CBA are so cap-friendly.

A pre-CBA contract like Granger's (or Rudy Gay's) is a cancer on a team like Indiana. For us, it could be an opportunity to get a quality player who is slightly (but not comically) overpaid. That's all I was saying.

But we still don't have the pieces to make the trade. I can't see any situation where we can make a trade to get a solid SF that isn't just a lateral trade because we'll leave ourselves in the same situation just at a different position. If we had a better backup for Vazquez or Lopez I'd be more willing to send one of them in a trade, but sending them away just leaves us with no PG or C, so having a SF does nothing for us.

Might as well wait it out and see what happens in FA and the draft
