still worth a shot in the 3rd round. there are two types of picks after the first two rounds: players that were projected to go higher and dropped (if they do nothing in the pros, then it was worth the shot), and players with much upside that are relatively unknown (these are the ones that can bite you in the arse if a miss but sets you up for the genius label if successful).
Yes I simplified things a bunch here, but the point remains that a guy as successful as he was in college with a draft grade in the mid first is absolutely worth the pick in the third or later rounds.

yeah true.
There was a player last year who had a huge fallout, Vontaze Burfict. He went undrafted but the Bengals ended up signing him. He went on to lead them in tackles this past year.
At one time Burfict looked to be a pretty high draft pick but he had a bad combine and it was reported that he was out of shape at his Pro Day workout.
It will be interesting to see how Te'o responds to his own situation.

No chance he is there past the 1st round.
