I just loved how every stadium would erupt in boos at a perfectly legal move. I'm gonna miss that.

31 is a part of baseball that doesn't need to be fricked with. If they make the rule change to disallow it, just another advantage for the offense.

i dont think you can make this rule chance without also outlawing an inside move to 2b without a throw
These aren't even close to being the same thing.
They are exactly the same thing. A pitcher is lifting his leg as if to pitch, only to step toward a base where he can fake a throw or attempt a throw to that base.
How is that not the same?

The rule is that a pitcher cannot try to "deceive" a baserunner. Hence the reason why you can't flinch at all while on the rubber.
As a baserunner, the first thing you are taught as a base stealer on first base is to look for a RHP to lift their left leg if they are set. If that front leg even moves slightly, you go, because at that point he has to deliver to the plate. If you are on second base, that isn't true. If you are on third base, that isn't true.
You cannot lift/flinch/buckle your front leg in any way and still turn and deliver the ball to first.
First base is different than second or third in terms of being able to pick off. If you want to argue that, thats a completely different issue. But the fact of the matter is that just because there is a runner on third base, should not change the rules about how you can pick a guy off of first base. You also can't fake a throw to first, unless you first step off of the rubber.

Everything you said was true, but in fact, you validated that the "inside move" to 2B and the "3rd to 1st move" are the same thing.

Not exactly sure how I validated that the fake to third move and the leg lift to second are the same thing but ok.

Agreed
It is as if they're making this change solely for the ignorant assholes who scream "BALK!!!" after this play all the time.

You can legally lift you leg and still throw to second.
You can legally lift your leg and still throw to third.
You cannot legally lift your leg and still throw to first.
You can argue the logic behind that all you want but those are the rules to a balk. That is a reason why a lot of analysts that announce games want the move to be declared a balk.

This is simply not true. In what way is this an advantage for the offense?
You are still allowed to fake a pickoff to second or third. A pitcher could still perform a pick-off to third by lifting his leg looking like he would be delivering it to the plate and if the baserunner took off too soon the infielders would yell "runner" and the pitcher could still turn and throw the ball to second.

You make a comment to debate and then someone says something back so you respond by being a dick.

great..now I can't wait for some drunk dad to be screaming at a USSSA game that a 53 fake is a balk....
great...
I can't even count how many runners at 3rd.. my kid has picked off by them being lazy.. in fact.. he has been picked off TWICE... like this himself... thinking the pitcher was just faking him..

With a runner on 2nd, the runner on first probably is going to steal.

ever seen a lefty on the hill
eta...if they are gonna make start making balk changes they need to look at the lefty move to 1st. they let them get away with too much. why do they get the advantage?

As a left handed pitcher, I never cared about this move. Good riddance!

Why are people talking about outlawing it because of ineffectiveness? Something shouldnt be against the rules for being ineffective.
