Have any OB'ers ever actually had to pull their piece on someone and really thought they were gonna use it.......or actually had to use your piece in a self defense situation? Excluding military and police if course.
I've never had to pull mine but their was a situation when I was a child where my dad was locked and loaded and would have fired if the situation escalated.
Lets hear your stories.

Didn't shoot due to not needing to/police hassle/ court hassle.

I've never drawn on anyone. One time though I was in chichton (home of the leprechaun) and had to stop at a gas station...this mangy crackhead outside asked me for money before I went into the store and I told him I didn't have any cash.
I went in and got a case of beer and he asked me again on the way out. Well I needed gas so I went ahead and started to fill up, he starts walking towards me, this time with a hostile look on his face saying he knows I have money because I just got beer and now i'm getting gas and how it's fricked up that I won't help him out.
Anyway, he gets about 10 feet from me and I lifted up my shirt to reveal a .45(this was pre holster,so I had it tucked in my pants gangster style ) and his eyes got as big as softballs. He apologized, almost shat himself, and went on his way.
Even though I was carrying, it's still a scary situation and gets your adrenaline going. Luckily my friend moved out of that area so I have no reason to ever go back.

When I first moved to Shreveport, I was poor, so I lived in some ghetto apartments. The 2nd night I lived there, I heard gunshots. The 3rd night, at about 3 am, I hear loud banging on my door, and someone yelling "Yo! Open the damn door!", I get up to see about 3 young black guys. I tell them that they have the wrong apartment, but they keep telling me to open the door. I get my 20 gauge and stand by the door and tell them to leave. They yelled for maybe another 30 seconds and finally left.
Scared the shite out of me. I lived there for another 6 months and never had another problem though.

Fords grocery in Wisner,La. One of the locals hanging around outside asked for a dollar. I told him no and he said he would TAKE a dollar. I had just sold a load of soybeans for cash. I had no intention of losing my money. This was before I had a concealed carry or a safe full of guns. What I did have was a Browning BPS 12 guage used for shooting rabbits off the combine. I made it to my truck and leveled the shotgun on the fellow. I asked if he was prepared to die over a dollar because I was prepared to kill over it. He decided to walk away and I thank the Lord above for his decision.

I'm the same way. It's not the money with me though as much as the principle. You're not going to "take" something from me, be it a dime or a vehicle

Exit off I-10 in New Orleans East not long after Katrina. Broken water pump and waiting for engine to cool. Two cars pulled up, two black "youths" got out of one and started toward me. One had a revolver. Pulled my 1911, got behind door and yelled Halt. They took off.
Just about crapped myself. Drove away as fast as I could until I got to an exit with other people.

It may be a disappointment, but people that have actually shot someone in self defense don't usually end up posting about it in these threads. But you do end up getting quite a few good stories where a gun prevented things from going from bad to worse.

So tell the story
It's a long story, ill preface by saying that I'm not from the ghetto and live in the country in north LA.
So I was about 8 or 9, my brother was 3-4 and dad would have been around 32 and mom around 30
Our neighbors sister has split with her husband and she and son (about 17) were staying at his house across the street. My Mom had worked the evening shift and dad had kept the kids, so I was asleep on the couch, dad was in the bathroom and brother asleep in his room. Mom got home about midnight and was warming food in microwave and hears a knock at the door and a woman pleading for her to open the door, so she does and the husband draws his 9mm and puts a round straight thru moms leg. My dad had heard the commotion and came from the back and my mom says "he shot me", dad pushes her down and slams the door. Dad then armed himself and my mom......with a .357 and .32 respectively. He then hauled me and my bro into a bathroom and told us not to move. The woman who knocked on the door eventually made it back to our house but she had been stabbed in the chest and later died and her son had been hit in the head with a pipe. The rest was a blur, my mom had the injured lady lying in the hallway doing CPR and I heard dad tell her if anyone came thru the back door to shoot them. From that point all I remember is mom telling the lady to "breathe and stay with her". The cops showed up shortly after and entered the neighbors house and found the suspect had blown his brains out with a 12 gauge.
It was a crazy experience......I was able to go in the house a few days later and saw blood splattered on the ceiling where he ended it. My dad has since told me there was no doubt in his mind that he would have killed anyone that entered the house without hesitation.
This was a long story to type on my mobile so excuse gramatical errors.
